Liverpool Apply to Copyright Manager Jurgen Klopp's Iconic 'Normal One' Phrase
Liverpool might just have ignored the underlying message of Jurgen Klopp's "The Normal One" quote by moving to officially copyright the phrase, reports the Telegraph's Callum Davis.
The German boss gave himself the nickname when unveiled as Brendan Rodgers' replacement in October and questioned about Jose Mourinho's early declaration that he is the "Special One."

"I am a normal guy from the Black Forest and I do not compare myself with the geniuses," Klopp said. "I don’t describe myself. Does anyone in this room think I can do wonders? Let me work. I am the normal one."
Fans took the quote with open arms, with branded banners, flags and t-shirts commonplace at Anfield since Klopp's appointment.
And his club gave the phrase its seal of approval as well, officially applying days later for "The Normal One" to be trademarked under European law to be used exclusively on future merchandise.
While the commodification of a quote from a press conference might be the very antithesis of "normal," the irony is lost on the Reds, who are preparing for Wednesday night's Premier League clash with Arsenal.
Eighth-placed Liverpool are in the hunt for a place in next season's Champions League, hold a slender first-leg lead in the Capital One Cup semi-final with Stoke City and will take on FC Augsburg in the Europa League's last 32.
