
Ezekiel Elliott Cited After Car Accident: Latest Details, Comments and Reaction
Ohio State running back Ezekiel Elliott was cited for "not having an operator's license, failure to control and driving under a suspended license" after a car accident Sunday, according to the Columbus Police Department (via TMZ Sports).
Per the report, "Elliott told police he hit a puddle, hydroplaned and lost control of the vehicle...hitting another car."
According to police, the other driver had minor injuries but didn't require hospitalization. A court date has not yet been set.
Elliott said on Tuesday, per Paul Skrbina of the Chicago Tribune, that he was unaware his license was suspended. Elliott added that the accident was a "scary situation" and he's happy everyone involved is OK.
Elliott, a junior, rushed for 1,672 yards and 19 touchdowns this season. He announced he would be forgoing his senior season and would declare for the NFL draft in late November.
Ohio State faces Notre Dame in the Fiesta Bowl on Jan. 1, which is scheduled to be Elliott's last game for the school. An Ohio State spokesman confirmed to Patrick Murphy of TheOZone.net that the citation will not impact his status for that contest.
