College Teams with the Most 2016 Under Armour All-America Recruits
The first of three high school all-star games is set for Saturday, when more than 100 of the top prep players in the country compete in the Under Armour All-America Game in Orlando.
While more than 30 of the players set to compete in this event have yet to make a college choice, most are already committed for the 2016 season. All told, 30 different FBS schools will be represented in this game, though some have more prospects in action than others.
Eight schools have at least three commits apiece on the Under Armour rosters, comprising 37 total recruits and making this game somewhat of a preview of what's to come for those programs. Fans of those schools will want to tune in to see what the future holds.
Check out our rundown of the colleges with the most 2016 Under Armour All-America recruits, listed in order of the fewest to most commits.
Michigan
1 of 8
Under Armour commits: OL Ben Bredeson, LB Devin Bush Jr., RB Kareem Walker
Currently sitting third in 247Sports' composite ranking, Michigan has its top two overall recruits and two of the three newest commits set to play in the Under Armour All-America game.
Bredeson, a 6'5", 293-pound tackle from Wisconsin, is ranked 35th overall, while New Jersey-bred running back Walker is 39th. Walker, who is 6'1" and 210 pounds, committed to Michigan on Dec. 17, a day before Bush picked the Wolverines.
Bush, a 5'11", 226-pound linebacker prospect from Florida, is ranked 322nd overall.
Alabama
2 of 8
Under Armour commits: OL Deonte Brown, RB B.J. Emmons, DT Kendell Jones, OL Chris Owens
Alabama's future in the trenches will be on display on Saturday. Three of the six linemen who have committed to the Crimson Tide are playing in the Under Armour game.
The top-rated player in that group is Jones, who at 6'5" and 375 pounds could end up being a huge part of Alabama's defensive line in the upcoming seasons. The Texas native is 73rd overall in 247Sports' composite rankings.
On the other side of the line will be sizable guards Brown at 6'3", 350 lbs and Owens at 6'2.5", 312 lbs, prospects from Alabama and Texas who are ranked 148th and 158th, respectively.
Alabama will also have its top current skill-position commit in action in Emmons, a 5'10", 232-pound ball-carrier from North Carolina who ranks 91st in the 2016 class.
Florida
3 of 8
Under Armour commits: DE Antonneous Clayton, CB Chauncey Gardner, WR Josh Hammond, OL Brett Heggie
Florida's coaches might as well hang out in Orlando for an extra day, since less than 24 hours after facing Michigan in the Citrus Bowl, they'll be able to watch a quartet of their next charges on the same field.
And three of them could be eventual replacements for players heading into the NFL draft after this game.
Gardner, a 6'0", 194-pound Florida native who is ranked as the eighth-best cornerback in the 2016 class, will arrive as junior Vernon Hargreaves III departs. Also on his way out is leading receiver Demarcus Robinson, another junior. But 6'0", 180-pound Florida resident Hammond could take his place next season.
Clayton, a 6'3", 218-pound weak-side edge rusher from Georgia, could be a successor to dismissed end Alex McCalister, though he also might end up as a linebacker unless he puts on more size.
Florida also has a potential future starter on the offensive line in Heggie, a 6'4", 300-pound in-state prospect who is the No. 6 center in the 2016 class.
Miami (Florida)
4 of 8
Under Armour commits: QB Jack Allison, DE Patrick Bethel, WR Sam Bruce, WR Dionte Mullins
Two of Miami's top three wide receivers this season were seniors, and with junior Stacy Coley still mulling his future, there's a chance the Hurricanes might have to completely overhaul its pass-catching corps. Good thing they have two top-notch targets coming in, and both will be in the Under Armour game.
Bruce, the nephew of former NFL star receiver Isaac Bruce, is Miami's top current pledge at No. 58 overall in 247Sports' composite rankings. The 5'8", 180-pound prospect from Fort Lauderdale has been committed to the 'Canes since July 2014.
Another in-state receiver, Mullins, is a 5'10", 179-pound Miami native who is No. 197 overall.
Miami also has its quarterback of the future set to play in the 6'5", 200-pound Allison, another Florida resident who is the eighth-best pro-style passer in the 2016 class.
The last of the 'Canes' commits set for the Under Armour game is one of the players they've recruited since Mark Richt was hired as coach. Bethel, from Vero Beach, Florida, is a 6'3", 249-pound strong-side end who committed on Dec. 14.
Penn State
5 of 8
Under Armour commits: DT Ellison Jordan, OL Michal Menet, RB Miles Sanders, DE Shane Simmons
Penn State fans are either going to need to have two televisions at their disposal on Saturday or make sure there's space on the DVR, because the current Nittany Lions and four of their best future prospects will be playing at the same time.
While the Lions face Georgia in the TaxSlayer Bowl in Jacksonville, a quartet of Penn State commits will be showing off their stuff in Orlando.
Topping the list is an offensive line recruit who might be the answer to what has ailed Penn State up front. Menet, a 6'5", 273-pound tackle from Pennsylvania, is rated by 247Sports as the No. 32 overall prospect in the 2016 class. He's followed closely by another in-state product, 5'11", 199-pound rusher Sanders, who ranks 40th overall.
Menet and Sanders are the two highest-rated players from the Keystone State.
The Lions also have two potential standouts on the defensive line in action in Maryland products, Simmons (6'4", 221 lbs) and Jordan (6'0", 270 lbs).
LSU
6 of 8
Under Armour commits: DT Edwin Alexander, DE Andre Anthony, S Eric Monroe, CB Saivion Smith, DE Rahssan Thornton
LSU is in need of a defensive coordinator after Kevin Steele was hired away by SEC rival Auburn on Wednesday. Any prospective replacements would be smart to closely watch the Under Armour All-America Game, since the five LSU 2016 commits playing in that event are on the defensive side of the ball.
The highest-rated of that group is Smith, a 6'1", 175-pound cornerback from IMG Academy in Bradenton, Florida, who 247Sports rates as the No. 18 overall prospect and second-best corner in the 2016 class. LSU also has a commitment from the second-best safety of 2016 in Monroe, a 6'0", 180-pound Houston product.
The other three LSU pledges who will be in Orlando on Saturday may someday be starring on the defensive line in Baton Rouge. The most notable of that trio is Alexander, a 6'2", 310-pound tackle from Louisiana.
Thornton, a 6'3", 225-pound weak-side rusher from Texas, and 6'3", 214-pound weak-side end New Orleans product Anthony round out LSU's future players in Saturday's game.
LSU previously had a sixth commit in the game in Michael Divinity, a 6'2", 218-pound outside linebacker from Marrero, Louisiana, but on Dec. 16 he decommitted from the Tigers. According to Shea Dixon of 247Sports, Divinity will sign with either LSU or Texas A&M on Jan. 5 as an early enrollee.
Florida State
7 of 8
Under Armour commits: K Ricky Aguayo, QB Malik Henry, OL Baveon Johnson, CB Levonta Taylor, K Logan Tyler, TE Naseir Upshur
Malik Henry's journey to Florida State has been a long and winding one, with numerous changes in schools that have taken him from Southern California to Florida and back to the Los Angeles area. The 6'3", 185-pound Henry now gets to finish his prep career back in the Sunshine State as one of six quarterbacks who will be featured in the Under Armour All-America Game.
Henry, who is rated by 247Sports as the fourth-best pro-style passer in the country, has been committed to the Seminoles since November 2014. That was when he was at a high school in California.
But in January, he switched to IMG Academy in Bradenton, Florida. He never played there, moving back West and playing his senior year at Long Beach Poly.
Henry is the most well-known of FSU's six commits who will be in action Saturday, but he's not the highest-rated. That's Taylor, a 5'11", 182-pound cornerback from Virginia Beach who is ranked first at his position and seventh overall.
The 'Noles' second-best commit is Johnson, a 6'3", 310-pound Florida native who is the top-ranked center in the 2016 class. They also have tight end commit Upshur, a 6'2", 233-pound recruit from Philadelphia and both of the kickers who are on the Under Armour rosters in Aguayo and Tyler.
Aguayo is the younger brother of current FSU kicker Roberto Aguayo, a junior.
Auburn
8 of 8
Under Armour commits: QB Woody Barrett, CB John Broussard, DE Marlon Davidson, WR Kyle Davis, TE Landon Rice, WR Eli Stove, LB Tre Threat
Though the 2015 season wasn't a particularly successful one for Auburn, that hasn't taken away from the Tigers' recruiting efforts as 247Sports has them holding the seventh-best class in 2016. That will be evident during the Under Armour All-America Game, as their seven committed participants are the most of any school in the country.
That includes Auburn's top pledge on both offense and defense. Marlon Davidson, a 6'4", 260-pound strong-side end from Alabama, is ranked 17th overall in the country, while Georgia native Davis is a 6'1", 218-pound receiver who's 45th in the 247Sports composite rankings.
Quarterback Woody Barrett, a 6'2", 225-pound prospect from Florida, is the nation's No. 4 dual-threat passer in the country, while 6'5", 250-pound Georgia native Stove is the No. 8 tight end in 2016.
