Cesc Fabregas Reportedly Involved in Training Ground Row With Charly Musonda

James DudkoDec 22, 2015

Cesc Fabregas reacted angrily when Chelsea U21 star Charly Musonda nutmegged him in training last week. The pair clashed during an angry exchange, according to David Kent of MailOnline

Kent described how some cheeky skill from Musonda apparently triggered the incident: "The Spain international reacted angrily after Musonda flicked the ball over his head before nutmegging him. Fabregas then unleashed a heavy challenge on the 19-year-old that sparked a melee among the players."

But the same report indicated interim Chelsea boss Guus Hiddink has drawn a line under the incident and is prepared to give Musonda a chance to make the grade at Stamford Bridge.

Fabregas did not appreciate being humiliated by an upstart teenager yet to make his first-team breakthrough with the Blues. Yet, although Musonda has been kept waiting, he's not short of admirers outside of Chelsea.

Kent also noted how the attacking midfielder has been catching the eye of several interested parties: "Musonda, in front of a host of scouts keen on signing him on loan next month, impressed during Chelsea Under 21s' win over Middlesbrough on Monday night."

Going into more detail, Kent named some of those keen observers of Musonda's latest display: "Queens Park Rangers boss Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink is keen on Musonda and watched the youngster against Boro on Monday night. Representatives from Feyenoord and AZ Alkmaar, who are also interested in the teenager, were also in attendance."

But there's also interest from closer to home. Back in June, the Daily Mirror's Adrian Kajumba suggested Chelsea's London rivals, Arsenal, were keen.

The incident may not have damaged Musonda's standing too much, but it's yet another sorry chapter in Fabregas' increasingly dismal Chelsea career. He's become something of a hated figure to certain fans following the dismissal of former manager Jose Mourinho.

The Spanish playmaker was booed off during the Blue's recent 3-1 win over Sunderland, per Simon Johnson of the London Evening Standard:

Some supporters believe the ex-Arsenal and Barcelona man was a chief mover in the players turning their backs on Mourinho. The issue may even spark possible legal action from Fabregas toward BBC pundit and former Chelsea man Pat Nevin, according to the Daily Mail's Charles Sale.

The memory of his first season at the Bridge, when he helped inspire Chelsea to a Premier League and a Capital One Cup double, is fading fast. Now, it's one controversy after another for Fabregas.
