Real Madrid Transfer News: Latest on Robert Lewandowski and Toni Kroos Rumours

Christopher SimpsonDec 19, 2015

Bayern Munich star Robert Lewandowski refused to rule out a move to Real Madrid in a cagey interview following the German side's midweek win over Darmstadt.

Per Jose Carlos Menzel of AS, he was asked by the Spanish outlet on Tuesday whether Bayern fans should be concerned about reported interest in him from Los Blancos. He replied: "Every year these kinds of rumours come around and I don't want to answer questions about them always. What's important to me is football. It's not an easy situation for me, so I prefer to say nothing."

As Squawka Football revealed, Lewandowski has been in majestic form in front of goal this season:

His club have celebrated him on Twitter and shared the following video of some of his best moments at Bayern and the impressive skills he shows in training on a regular basis:

The clinical and powerful but technically adept striker has firmly placed himself among the world's top front men and not only does he fit Real Madrid president Florentino Perez's Galactico bill perfectly, he's one of the few centre-forwards capable of potentially unseating Karim Benzema.

His comments will hardly reassure Bayern's fans, with Menzel noting that some "see the similarities between his situation at the Allianz Arena and his departure from Borussia Dortmund. At that time there was a lot of speculation over his future and Lewandowski remained silent before announcing he had agreed to join Bayern on a free transfer when his contract expired."

Sport Witness also believe his words are telling:

As Menzel's report mentioned, though, the Pole has over three years left on his contract with Bayern, and as he has no buyout clause the club can demand whatever sum they like, so he's not likely to be allowed to move unless he personally pushes for a transfer himself.

These comments could be an indication he's keeping his options open, but he's not at that stage yet.

Meanwhile, Real midfielder Toni Kroos has been left feeling "isolated and overlooked" by Rafael Benitez after seeing his playing time fall under the Spaniard, according to Carlos Forjanas of AS.

The news comes in the wake of Frederic Hermel's report on Spanish TV show El Chiringuito (h/t Ed Malyon of the Daily Mirror) the German is hoping to leave Los Merengues and has informed his agent as much, with Manchester United linked with a move.

Spanish football expert Sergi Dominguez wasn't overly surprised when the German only made the bench for Real's 1-0 defeat to Villarreal on Sunday, though:

Despite his current run of mixed form, Kroos remains a top talent and possesses both excellent distribution and the creativity to use that to its fullest effect, per WhoScored.com and Squawka Football:

Indeed, the 25-year-old has still garnered a respectable five assists in all competitions this season.

With Benitez under intense scrutiny at the Bernabeu as the club find themselves lagging behind Barcelona and Atletico Madrid in the title race, the Spaniard may well find he's no longer in charge of the club sooner rather than later.

If that happens, expect Kroos, and any other unsettled player, to enjoy a new lease of life at the club and most likely opt to stay.
