Barcelona Transfer News: Lionel Messi, PSG Rumours Discussed by Angel Di Maria
Paris Saint-Germain superstar Angel Di Maria has said he wants the Ligue 1 champions to capture Lionel Messi from Barcelona, declaring the Parc des Princes club have "the resources to sign him."
The Argentina winger told RMC Sport (h/t Nicholas Godden of the MailOnline) he believes his compatriot could join him, and wear the PSG shirt in future:
"I hope that PSG can bring Messi to Paris one day. Everything is possible.
It is all about money. It would take a lot of money to sign a player like him.
It would be great for Ligue 1 and French football in general if Messi joined PSG
PSG have the resources to sign him. Messi could come to Paris.

The two players have represented their country together for seven years, and they would form an incredible forward line for the Parisians if paired at club level.
Messi's future has been subject to recent speculation, when it once seemed it would be impossible to take the icon from his Camp Nou surroundings.
The player is said to be holding "secret talks" with Manchester City about a big-money move to the Premier League, as reported by the Sun's Ken Lawrence.
Lawrence stated Messi and his representatives are "blown away" by City's massive offer, as the Sky Blues flex their muscle ahead of the Premier League's record TV deal, which begins next season:
"He is well aware the numbers, no matter how mind-boggling, really do stack up.
After all, the new Premier League TV deals could be worth more than £9bn over the next three seasons.
International TV rights due to be finalised before Christmas are also set to almost double the £5.14bn domestic deal. That means United and City, just by finishing in the top four, would earn £220m a season — or £660m EACH — over the TV agreement’s three–year time-frame.
"

Di Maria also said he believes Messi has a great chance of scooping the Ballon d'Or, claiming the award won by Cristiano Ronaldo for the past two seasons.
The PSG player said to RMC, per Godden: "Messi, Ronaldo and Neymar all scored a lot of goals and had spectacular years. But the Champions League often plays a big role in who wins it and Barcelona won that competition. That's why I think Messi has the best chance. He won the treble and has a good chance."
Despite spending a period out of Barca's first team due to injury, the 28-year-old has continued to score goals at a phenomenal rate for the Blaugrana. This term, Messi has eight goals and five assists from his 11 starts in La Liga and the Champions League, according to WhoScored.com.

PSG have been looking for the killer signing that takes them to the top of the tree in European football, and there is no doubt Messi would enhance the club's chances of capturing the Champions League.
The Paris outfit have all but sewn up the French championship, but they crave the chance to join Europe's elite as winners of the continent's biggest club tournament.
Messi will have the choice to join PSG, or one of the Premier League's top teams, if he decides he wants a new challenge away from Catalonia, but as Barcelona continue to dominate at home and abroad, all transfer talk will be open to scepticism.
