Junior College Signing Day 2015: Top Recruit Commitments and Reaction
College football programs around the nation bolstered their squads Wednesday, as junior college signing day kicked off the early enrollment period of signing for junior college prospects. While many of those players already had verbal agreements in place, they couldn't officially sign until Wednesday.
Players that choose not to sign between now and Jan. 15 can sign on Feb. 3, national signing day, for all prospects heading to the college game.
Many of the top junior college players in the land made things official Wednesday, however, including the No. 1 prospect in the 247Sports JUCO Composite Rankings, offensive tackle Charles Baldwin, who is heading to Alabama.
The ASA College Football Program shared the moment Baldwin signed his letter of intent:
Meanwhile, one of Alabama's SEC rivals, Florida, landed a top-10 prospect of its own in Mark Thompson, the top JUCO running back and the No. 5 prospect overall.
Head coach Jim McElwain announced the news:
Thompson is expected to contribute immediately and should earn his fair share of touches next season. He could even end up being the team's starter if Kelvin Taylor decides to declare for the 2016 NFL draft. Greg Powers of Scout.com offered the following evaluation of Thompson:
"Thompson obviously has the size to withstand the physicality the position demands, but the elite running back blends that with terrific speed. He seemingly does it all, being able to run through defenders, outrun the opposition with burst and speed, elusiveness to make people miss, and is also serviceable as a receiver out of the backfield. He is a back in that Derrick Henry mode, who can run over you, but can also run around you.
"
High praise for Thompson, indeed.
The top JUCO wideout available, Taj Williams, also signed his letter of intent Wednesday, committing to TCU.
Scott Eklund of Dawgman.com shared the moment on Twitter:
Finally, the top quarterback prospect, Jerod Evans, announced on Twitter that he signed with Virginia Tech:

Other top prospects to officially sign Wednesday included No. 11 prospect and wideout Derrick Willies to Texas Tech, No. 16 prospect and offensive tackle Na'Ty Rodgers to Houston, No. 17 prospect and cornerback Jamarcus King to South Carolina and No. 21 prospect and defensive tackle Alexis Johnson to Tennessee.
Arizona State had a big day, meanwhile, landing No. 14 prospect and cornerback J'Marcus Rhodes, No. 24 prospect and defensive end Koron Crump and No. 25 prospect and defensive end Christian Hill to Arizona State.
Many of the other top JUCO transfers are expected to announce before the Jan. 15 deadline for early enrollment.
