Is Florida State the New Favorite to Land 4-Star Terrell Hall After Visit?
With defensive end being one of the top priorities down the stretch for Florida State, the case can be made that 4-star defensive end Terrell Hall is one of the most important recruits left on the board for the Seminoles.
The 6’5”, 250-pound Hall made his way to Tallahassee last weekend for an official visit.
According to Chris Nee of Noles247, the Washington, D.C. native enjoyed his time in the Sunshine State’s capital city.
"The visit definitely impressed me from every aspect that I could view the school," Hall told Nee.
Hall, who backed off an early pledge to Ohio State, had already taken one of his official visits to Florida in September.
As Nee notes, Alabama and Ole Miss are in a good position to get visits from him in January—with other programs such as Arizona State, Maryland, Texas A&M and UCLA also battling for an opportunity to host him next month.
However, following his trip to Tallahassee, are the ‘Noles in the driver's seat with the nation’s No. 5-ranked weak-side defensive end and No. 77-ranked overall prospect in the 2016 cycle?
While it’s natural for prospects to be smitten with programs in the immediate aftermath of an official visit, head coach Jimbo Fisher and his staff seem to have made an impression on Hall that could be lasting.
"Everything," Hall told Nee when asked what stood out. "It seemed like it was a perfect fit for me.”
If that isn’t a strong enough endorsement, a few other factors could help the Seminoles' chances of landing his commitment on national signing day.
Even though the ‘Noles are somewhat of a late entry to his recruitment, they have wasted little time in making him feel like a priority recruit.
Hall has clicked with Seminoles defensive ends coach Brad Lawing—who made an in-home visit with him earlier this month, per Nee.
Lawing, who has mentored touted pass-rushers such as Jadeveon Clowney and Dante Fowler Jr. at previous stops, has pitched Hall on the overall success of the program and how he would fit into the rotation at defensive end.
"Just everything about the school and football program,” Hall told Nee earlier this month. “How he thinks I'll fit in with the team, and how he sees me developing as a player. His background and stability as a coach and the rest of the coaching staff."
Additionally, Florida State has had success recruiting the DMV area in recent years—with former stars such as corner Ronald Darby and defensive tackle Eddie Goldman enjoying standout careers in Tallahassee before moving on to the NFL.
However, there’s still a long way to go in Hall’s recruitment. His visits in January could certainly swing the momentum away from Florida State.
Still, in the aftermath of his visit, the ‘Noles have done enough to become a serious player for Hall moving forward.
