Ryan Giggs, Manchester United Assistant, Reportedly Eyed for Swansea City Job
After dismissing Garry Monk, the hunt for Swansea City's next manager has begun, and the club are reportedly eager to speak to Manchester United assistant manager Ryan Giggs as they consider their options, while he is "open" to taking a managerial job away from the Red Devils.
According to Mark Ogden of the Independent, the Swans are hoping to discover if Giggs would be willing to swap being a No. 2 at Old Trafford with being the No. 1 at the Liberty Stadium. Further, Samuel Luckhurst of the Manchester Evening News adds that he might indeed accept the job.
The Welshman was with the Red Devils for his entire playing career and began coaching with them in 2013 under David Moyes, following the retirement of Sir Alex Ferguson.

Upon Moyes' sacking, the 42-year-old was briefly the club's interim player-manager before retiring as a player and becoming Louis van Gaal's assistant in 2014.
As Ogden notes, Van Gaal—who is currently enduring a difficult spell with his uninspiring team failing to qualify for the knockout stages of the UEFA Champions League—is only contracted until the end of next season, and Giggs is seen as one of the front-runners to replace him.
Giggs may therefore prefer to remain at the club in order to be free to take over from Van Gaal should he either be sacked or when his contract expires.
However, the United legend might opt to take on the challenge to gain vital experience of being a No. 1—which could enhance his chances of being chosen as the boss at Old Trafford in the future.
Giggs has no prior connection to Swansea, and the supporters might have concerns over his lack of experience, but his 64 caps with Wales could see him welcomed by the fans.
