Romelu Lukaku's 50th goal for Everton saved a point for the Toffees as they drew 1-1 with Crystal Palace at Goodison Park on Monday.

Scott Dann's opener for the Eagles came very much against the run of play in the 76th minute before Lukaku's tap-in five minutes later earned Roberto Martinez's side a well-deserved point.

Alan Pardew's Palace side moved into the top six in the Premier League as a result, while Everton are into ninth.

Week 15 Recap

Chances were scarce in the first half at Goodison Park. Connor Wickham forced an excellent save from Tim Howard after a quarter of an hour, and Lukaku's driven effort from the edge of the box hit the post, but it was goalless at half-time.

The Times' Henry Winter was mightily impressed with the performance of John Stones:

It was altogether a different affair after the break, though, as Everton started to turn the screw.

The Toffees were denied by the woodwork again as Wickham headed on to the crossbar defending a whipped Ross Barkley free-kick from the left on the hour.

Tom Cleverley then forced a fine save from Palace goalkeeper Wayne Hennessey six minutes later with a well-struck curling volley.

The Eagles were under the cosh but remained dangerous on the break, and Howard tipped away a Jason Puncheon effort 15 minutes from time.

Dann netted from the resulting corner, a very soft concession on Everton's part as the centre-back was able to head home after being left completely unmarked.

Everton's response was immediate as the woodwork saved Palace again, Lukaku's fine, left-footed effort rattling the crossbar.

But the Belgian finally found the back of the net nine minutes from time as he turned home from three yards after Gerard Deulofeu's low cross from the byline.

It was a landmark goal for the 22-year-old, per ESPN FC:

The chances kept on coming for both sides, but neither Palace nor Everton could find a winner and the spoils were eventually shared.

The weekend's results saw Leicester City move back to the top of the table with their 3-0 win over Swansea City at the Liberty Stadium.

Although Jamie Vardy failed to extend his scoring run to 12 consecutive matches, Riyad Mahrez netted a hat-trick on an historic day for the Algerian:

The Foxes took advantage as Manchester City dropped off the summit after their 2-0 defeat to Stoke City, who put in an excellent performance at the Britannia Stadium.

Marko Arnautovic netted both goals, assisted by Xherdan Shaqiri, and Stoke's front three looked irresistible with Bojan Krkic also excellent.

Defending champions Chelsea went down 1-0 to Bournemouth at Stamford Bridge, Glenn Murray's 82nd-minute header incredibly condemning the Blues to their eighth defeat of the season.

Per Bleacher Report's Sam Tighe, Chelsea now have no chance of finishing the season in top four:

Manchester United's frustrating form continued as they played out a goalless draw with West Ham United at Old Trafford, the Red Devils again looking poor in front of goal.

Though their defence remains remarkably resolute, recent results have been poor and are understandably drawing criticism from fans, per the Manchester Evening News' Samuel Luckhurst:

Arsenal moved up into second as they claimed a 3-1 home win against Sunderland despite the absence of Alexis Sanchez, Francis Coquelin and Santi Cazorla.

Joel Campbell's opener was cancelled out by an Olivier Giroud own goal in the first half before the Frenchman netted at the right end and Aaron Ramsey sealed the win in stoppage time.

Their north London rivals Tottenham Hotspur had no such luck as they drew 1-1 with West Bromwich Albion, Dele Alli and James McClean netting the goals at the Hawthorns.

Troy Deeney and Odion Ighalo were on target for Watford as they continued their excellent form with a 2-0 win over Norwich City.

Meanwhile, struggling Aston Villa earned a good point at Southampton in a 1-1 draw, and Liverpool were shocked by Newcastle United at St James' Park as they were downed 2-0.
