Conference championship week is going to play a big part in how these matchups can play out. While Oklahoma seems to be the only team safe in the top-four playoff spots, No. 1 Clemson, No. 2 Alabama and No. 4 Iowa all have to win their respective conferences.
Of the three that still have to play, Iowa might be most in danger of dropping out of the playoff, as it'll be playing No. 5 Michigan State, who holds more quality wins this season in a tougher schedule.
But Clemson will have its hands full with a North Carolina team that has stormed its way up the rankings and into the top 10. A potent offense led by Marquise Williams will not be a pushover in the ACC Championship Game.
If the Tar Heels manage to upset the Tigers, then discussions might open up on whether or not UNC should be in the top four.
Alabama has one of the easier conference championship games when it takes on Florida. The Gators were shut out against Florida State's defense, scoring their only points via a safety. The Seminoles' defensive unit is no pushover, but Alabama has one of the best defenses in the nation, which will be difficult for the Florida offense to score on.
Those playoff games are just the highlights of a bowl season that is going to display the best teams in the nation, even those outside of the Power Five conferences.
