Dellavedova said he will play Thursday against the Chicago Bulls, per Nolan Murphy of ESPN Cleveland.
Dellavedova's Return a Boost to Cavs' PG Depth
With the knee injury that sidelined point guard Kyrie Irving for the first 24 games of this season, Dellavedova teamed up with Mo Williams to provide a steady presence at the position without Irving.
Dellavedova himself was dealing with bumps and bruises, including a sore calf that saw him sidelined for a limited time before this most recent injury. The 25-year-old has posted career-high averages in points and assists this year while bringing an energetic style of play to both ends of the floor.
Getting regular time was also beneficial for the Australian, as he told Jason Lloyd of the Akron Beacon Journal earlier this season.
"I definitely feel as confident as I've [ever] been right now," Dellavedova said. "I try to take what worked in the playoffs and build off that. ... I think I can guard at a high level when games mean the most."
However, that high-intensity style of play hasn't been too well-received outside of Cleveland. According to a poll run by Broderick Turner of the Los Angeles Times, Dellavedova was voted the dirtiest player among coaches and players.
"He was kind of dirty in the playoffs, for sure," an Eastern Conference coach told Turner. "He broke Kyle Korver's leg. He held Taj Gibson with his legs and Al Horford's legs and got them kicked out the games because they retaliated against him."
Regardless, he earned the admiration of teammate and superstar LeBron James:
Irving provides a steady presence in the backcourt, though he's more of a scoring floor general than the proficient distributor Dellavedova is. Williams is a proven commodity, but Dellavedova provides a gritty presence that only adds to the team's depth.
