Premier League Table: Final Week 13 2015 Standings, Results and Week 14 Fixtures
Sunderland picked up an invaluable win at Selhurst Park in the Premier League on Monday as they beat Crystal Palace 1-0.
Jermain Defoe's late effort proved decisive for the Black Cats, who showed an uncharacteristic solidity in defence thanks to Sam Allardyce's work in organising the team.
Palace were the better side for much of the contest—with 19 shots in the match—but were unable to make their chances pay and fell victim to a smash-and-grab by Sunderland.

Week 13 Round-Up
The hosts piled on the pressure from the outset as they sought to get balls into the box and test the Black Cats' nervy defence—but were largely unable to cause the visitors any problems due to frequently poor delivery, per Squawka Football:
What further hindered Palace was their narrow play—despite starting with both Wilfried Zaha and Yannick Bolasie, the hosts spent much of their time playing through the middle to little avail.
Meanwhile, Sunderland were set up to hit the Eagles on the counter and had early efforts on goal through Steven Fletcher, Jermain Defoe and Patrick van Aanholt, but none hit the target.
Younes Kaboul's header forced a goal-line clearance from Yohan Cabaye early in the second period, but Palace continued to be the side in control while Sunderland bunkered down. However, clear-cut chances proved few and far between.
That is, until Scott Dann—attempting to shield the ball for Wayne Hennessey to collect—allowed Defoe to wriggle past him and slot home with 10 minutes of normal time remaining.

The Eagles pushed in search of an equaliser, but were met with a surprisingly robust Black Cats defence.
The weekend's results mean that, sensationally, Leicester City currently top the standings in the Premier League. The Foxes claimed another three points—their eighth win of the season—at St James' Park, handily beating Newcastle United 3-0.
Jamie Vardy opened the scoring to equal Ruud van Nistelrooy's record of scoring in 10 consecutive Premier League games, before Leonardo Ulloa and Shinji Okazaki made the Magpies pay for some abysmal defending.
While no one truly believes Leicester can maintain their position at the top of the league long-term, football writer Iain Macintosh would like us all to dream:
Leicester leapfrogged Manchester City and Arsenal, who were both beaten.
City were stunned 4-1 at home to Liverpool. After Eliaquim Mangala got things going with a comical own goal, the Reds tore through the hosts thanks to Philippe Coutinho and Roberto Firmino, who each got on the scoresheet to put them 3-0 up.
Football writers Liam Canning and Adam Sweeney were full of praise for Liverpool's attackers and manager Jurgen Klopp:
Indeed, the German's influence was evident, per Squawka Football:
Sergio Aguero pulled one back shortly before half-time, but the Citizens could not mount a comeback. Martin Skrtel completed the scoring with a powerful volley.
Meanwhile, Arsenal took the lead through an Olivier Giroud header, courtesy of Mesut Ozil's 11th assist of the season and seventh in consecutive Premier League matches.
James Morrison's volley levelled proceedings, though, before Mikel Arteta bundled into his own net. The Baggies held for a memorable win, while Santi Cazorla missed a late penalty after slipping in his run-up.

Manchester United also reaped the rewards of their rivals' struggles and moved into second place after dispatching Watford 2-1. Memphis Depay volleyed in Ander Herrera's cross early on before Troy Deeney equalised with a late penalty.
Unfortunately for the striker, he was powerless to keep out Bastian Schweinsteiger's last-gasp effort from a tight angle and his own goal sealed the win for United.
Braces from Romelu Lukaku and Ross Barkley gave Everton a supremely comfortable win at home to Aston Villa.
Josh King and Dan Gosling gave Bournemouth a shock 2-0 lead against Swansea City, but Garry Monk's side showed great resilience to earn a point thanks to goals from Andre Ayew and Jonjo Shelvey.

Stoke City won their second consecutive Premier League game as they narrowly beat Southampton 1-0, with Bojan Krkic bagging the winner after just 10 minutes with a delightful flick.
Chelsea were fairly impressive—by their recent standards—as they overcame Norwich City 1-0 thanks to a Diego Costa goal. A number of their players looked reinvigorated, including Eden Hazard, as demonstrated by Squawka Football:

Nevertheless, they will be up against it in Week 14 when they meet Tottenham Hotspur.
Spurs comfortably beat West Ham United 4-1 thanks to a brace from Harry Kane and goals from Toby Alderweireld and Kyle Walker, while Manuel Lanzini offered the Hammers' sole reply.
The Lilywhites are continuing to develop well under Mauricio Pochettino, and despite Chelsea's slight improvement, will have little reason to fear their opponents.
Expect their 12-game unbeaten streak to continue into December.
