Barcelona Transfer News: Gerard Deulofeu, Alessandro Florenzi, Latest Rumours

Christopher SimpsonNov 20, 2015

Everton manager Roberto Martinez has admitted Barcelona have the option to buy back Gerard Deulofeu at the end of the season.

According to the Daily Mail's Dominic King, the Catalan giants can reclaim their former player for £6.3 million next summer or for £8.4 million at the end of next season.

Martinez said:

"

There is nothing we can do if they activate it. That was the deal and the only way we could access the player on the terms that we wanted. I’m delighted with the deal.

You’re talking about a Barcelona player who has been all through his years as the golden boy believing he is going to be at the top level at Barcelona and we got him for a very good price.

"

The 21-year-old has sparkled with the Toffees this season and already has two goals and eight assists to his name in all competitions—well on his way to surpassing last season's totals of three and 10 while on loan at Sevilla.

WhoScored.com's Ben McAleer illustrated the impressive partnership the Spaniard is developing with Romelu Lukaku, while WhoScored also showed how Deulofeu stood out as an exceptional creative force in La Liga last term:

His current form could tempt the Blaugrana into returning for their former charge. As a graduate of their La Masia academy, Deulofeu would be a natural fit at the Camp Nou.

However, despite his form last season and with the knowledge they would likely allow Pedro to depart, Barca still allowed Deulofeu to leave in the summer. So even if he maintains his impressive spell at Goodison Park, it might not be enough to tempt Barcelona to make a move.

Manager Luis Enrique will also be able to call on Arda Turan and Aleix Vidal in January, so there will be much more competition for places and Deulofeu's chances of nailing down a starting berth on his return would be very difficult.

Barca would have even less need for Deulofeu if they land Roma's Alessandro Florenzi, with TalkSPORT reporting they are interested in the Italian as a long-term replacement for Dani Alves.

The versatile full-back—who is capable of operating along the right flank and in attacking midfield—bagged five goals and assists last season and has three and two respectively in this campaign.

Barcelona fans aren't likely to forget the 24-year-old's strike against them in the Champions League, which has been nominated for the 2015 FIFA Puskas award.

BT Sport Football shared the effort, while pundit James Horncastle opined Florenzi is enjoying a strong campaign:

According to Squawka, the Italian has averaged more chances created, tackles won, interceptions and blocks per 90 minutes than Alves in the league this season and almost as many interceptions, so he would be a strong candidate to replace his contribution to the Blaugrana.

What could prove tricky is persuading the Roman native to part with his boyhood club, something even Barca might struggle with.

The Catalan giants are looking to recruit in central defence as well, and they are one of several clubs looking at Everton's John Stones, according to James Robson of the Manchester Evening News.

However, as Robson noted, any prospective suitors will need to shell out a sensational £45 million for the youngster.

The 21-year-old is one of the hottest defensive prospects in Europe at the moment and the Toffees' reluctance to part with their young star is understandable.

His incredible price tag is likely to ward off the Blaugrana, though—for such a phenomenal amount of money, they could just as easily land a more experienced defender, one who is already the complete package.

That said, a move away from Goodison Park seems inevitable for the youngster, so it's not unthinkable Barca or one of his other suitors will give in and pay over the odds sooner or later.
