Breshad Perriman Injury Update: Ravens WR Put on Season-Ending Injured Reserve
The Baltimore Ravens were dealt another blow Tuesday, as wide receiver Breshad Perriman has been placed on injured reserve for the rest of the season, the team announced.
Last week, head coach John Harbaugh said “the clock is ticking” on Perriman's return, per Ryan Mink of BaltimoreRavens.com, as the team was running out of patience and needing space on the 53-man roster.
Perriman underwent PCL surgery after the first practice of training camp, and Baltimore was optimistic that the rookie would return at some point—particularly after Pro Bowler Steve Smith Sr. suffered a season-ending Achilles injury in Week 8 against the San Diego Chargers.

Per Mink, Harbaugh referred to Perriman's recovery as “probably one of the all-time slowest-healing sprained PCLs ever.”
General manager Ozzie Newsome told Mink that the Ravens’ hopes on Perriman's return ultimately reached a standstill Tuesday:
"Breshad has worked hard to come back from his injury, but, after discussing his current condition with our medical staff and Breshad, we have decided that putting him on injured reserve for the remainder of the season is our best course of action.
"
Perriman spoke about his injury on Twitter:
Perriman was thought to possibly return for the Ravens’ Week 3 game vs. the Cincinnati Bengals but endured pain when reaching for a pass in warm-ups, according to Joe Meoli of the Baltimore Sun.
The Ravens were counting on Perriman to be a speedy deep threat at an otherwise thin position on their roster. They selected him with the 26th overall pick in the 2015 NFL draft out of Central Florida, where he hauled in 115 catches for 2,243 yards (19.5 average) with 16 touchdowns in three seasons.
They’re now counting on what Joe Platania of PressBoxOnline.com called “possession pass-catchers” Kamar Aiken, Marlon Brown and Michael Campanaro.
Baltimore is an astonishing 2-7 just 10 months removed from reaching the AFC divisional playoffs—its sixth postseason appearance in seven years. Given the Ravens' slew of injuries on both sides of the ball and remaining competition in the rugged AFC North, they’re all but done.
