College Football Rankings 2015: Win-Loss Records, Week 12 Standings for Top 25

Steven CookNov 17, 2015

Things are truly heating up across the world of college football as a tell-all Week 12 slate looms.

The previous weekend saw a number of wold-be College Football Playoff contenders fall by the wayside and suffer defeats that derailed their championship hopes. Many others will need victories Saturday to avoid a similar fate.

Here's a look at three of the major Top 25 polls entering Week 12.

Just as most weekends have been, Week 11 of the 2015 season provided folks an opportunity to cross off a number of CFP hopefuls from the list of potentials.

First and foremost was Baylor, which saw its schedule stiffen up for the first time all season and didn't have an answer for it. Jarrett Stidham couldn't lead his Bears to a win over the Oklahoma Sooners, all but ending their hopes of making the Final Four and catapulting the Sooners' own chances.

Instead of Baylor and TCU, the Big 12's playoff hopes now come down to Oklahoma and Oklahoma State—the latter of which is still undefeated.

Sooners quarterback Baker Mayfield has pretty much come out of nowhere to spark a Heisman Trophy campaign, as his numbers show via Sports Illustrated's Jake Trotter, and he could punch a ticket to New York by winning down the stretch:

Of course, the Big 12 wasn't the only conference to see its top playoff contenders sputter in Week 11. In fact, the Pac-12 has it way worse.

That's because Stanford and Utah, both needing convincing wins down the stretch with already one loss, suffered their second defeats of the season to effectively end their hopes. The Utes were upset by Washington State, which made the rankings for the first time since 2006, and, most shockingly, the Cardinal suffered a tough defeat against Oregon, bumping them to No. 15 in the AP poll and marking the conference's highest-ranked team, per ESPN's Kyle Bonagura:

All of these results may pale in comparison to what Week 12 might bring, however.

The slate is highlighted by a matchup folks have been waiting for all season—a showdown between Michigan State and Ohio State in Columbus. The Spartans' loss to Nebraska a few weeks back hasn't caused the game to lose much luster, as they can dethrone Ohio State and spurn its CFP hopes with the upset.

Oklahoma has a tough turnaround as well after its upset of Baylor on the road. The Sooners welcome TCU to town, which may be out of the CFP running but won't scoff at the chance to end OU's own hopes and move back into the Big 12 conversation.

Every weekend of college football throughout the season offers plenty of telling results, but as far as Week 12 goes, many of these games will have direct CFP implications.
