Ranking Barcelona's Attacking Options on Their Goalscoring Threat
Barcelona's attack have had a mixed bag of results on an individual basis this year.
One or two players simply haven't stepped up to the level that is required for the club, whereas others continue to cement their Blaugrana legacy.
Despite the quality on show in general terms, Barca have been well below their normal average in terms of goals scored.
Yet they have still managed to grind out results when needed and approach El Clasico against Real Madrid while sat on top of La Liga.
With Lionel Messi and others on the road to recovery, goals aplenty are surely just around the corner.
Let's take a look at how Barcelona's attack rank in terms of a goalscoring threat. Whether you agree or disagree, remember to leave your comments in the section below.
5. Munir El Haddadi
1 of 5
There is a very simple reason why Munir El Haddadi finds himself at the bottom of this list.
Frankly, he doesn't possess a goalscoring threat at all.
Not since the early part of last season have we seen the youngster celebrating a goal of his own, his debut strike against Elche being the last.
Despite numerous chances to get the monkey off his back this season, a mixture of bad finishing and bad luck has ensured that opposition goalkeepers have rarely been troubled when Munir has been on the prowl.
Once Lionel Messi is fit, El Haddadi will be bench warming again. And he can have no complaints.
4. Sandro Ramirez
2 of 5
Sandro Ramirez has hardly covered himself in glory either.
No goals in 2015 isn't anywhere close to the return that Luis Enrique would be looking for from his strikers.
He only features slightly higher than Munir in this list by virtue of the fact that he has had less chances than his colleague from which to profit.
The confidence with which Sandro plays the game at reserve and junior levels for the club has deserted him, and like Munir, the inability to find the back of the net has become the biggest of millstones around his neck.
3. Lionel Messi
3 of 5
This is quite probably the only time that you'll find Lionel Messi as low down as third in a list.
The fact is that, dogged by injury, the Argentinian hasn't had quite the impact as in previous seasons.
Just three La Liga goals, per ESPN, sees him as joint 20th at the time of writing.
Arguably, by the business end of the season, Messi will be in the shake up at the top or thereabouts, but as things stand, the threat that the 28-year-old possesses has been minimal.
If he is able to be fit enough for an El Clasico return, he'll surely be champing at the bit to continue leading the goalscoring charts in that particular fixture.
2. Luis Suarez
4 of 5
Luis Suarez has begun the 2015/16 campaign as he ended the last—scoring goals.
The Uruguayan has been in sensational form right from the start of the season and has scored with some sublime finishes already.
Those who doubted the logic in signing the player, because of a questionable disciplinary record, would appear to be in the minority now.
A fully paid up member of "MSN," Suarez's contribution isn't in doubt. Three goals already in the Champions League, per BBC, and nine goals in La Liga is a fine return.
His goals are one of the chief reasons why Barca sit proudly at the summit in both domestic and European competition.
1. Neymar
5 of 5
Not too much doubt as to who should top this particular list.
Neymar's form has been a delight, and the young Brazilian has certainly taken the mantle from Lionel Messi since his team-mate's injury.
Along with Suarez, Neymar's goals have carried Barca. The 23-year-old's 11 in La Liga and two in the Champions League is the best return of any Barca player this season.
Even when not scoring, he has been an omnipresent threat in and around the penalty box, and his direct running at opposition defences has put them on the back foot at all times.
In this kind of form, it wouldn't be a surprise to see him sharing the Ballon d'Or stage with Messi.
