Self Comments on Diallo Investigation
Saturday, Nov. 21
Kansas head coach Bill Self said the school hired two independent firms to review Diallo's high school classes, according to Rustin Dodd of the Kansas City Star. Self added one firm said 15 of Diallo's 16 core classes should count, while the other said all 16 should, per Dodd. Self continued, via Dodd:
When asked about Diallo's situation, Self acknowledged the process has been lengthier than he anticipated, per Gary Bedore of KUSports.com on Nov. 10:
"After going through the process I'd say anything is possible. Not putting any blame or fault on anything. It’s just there's a few moving parts. The NCAA has to follow policy on those parts. So it can be a little frustrating but certainly it's not one at this point and time to stand up and beat the drum saying, 'This should positively happen.' I think we have to respect the process. ... I'll be real honest. I don't know what's normal. I personally don't think this is normal. I don't know what's normal.

Diallo's Guardian Hires Attorney
Tuesday, Nov. 10
Attorney Donald Jackson confirmed he is representing Tidiane Drame, who has served as Diallo's guardian, per Dodd. Jackson added the NCAA is looking into Drame's relationship with Diallo, and he is not formally representing the freshman, per Dodd. Jackson has experience representing athletes whose eligibility has been questioned by the NCAA.
Jackson was originally reported to be Diallo's attorney, per a report from Shams Charania of Yahoo Sports.
Diallo Is a Vital Part of Kansas' Title Hopes
The Jayhawks open the season Nov. 13 against Northern Colorado, and they would certainly love to have Diallo in the fold before then. However, no timeline exists with regard to determining Diallo's eligibility.
He enters the season as one of the top recruits in the nation and with the potential to be one of the best players in college basketball. His presence would be huge for the Jayhawks' national championship hopes, but the team is currently preparing to be without him, despite his newly aggressive approach to taking on the NCAA.
