In a race that was dominated by Sprint Cup regulars, Brad Keselowski entered Victory Lane on Saturday by virtue of winning the NASCAR Xfinity Series O'Reilly Auto Parts Challenge at Texas Motor Speedway.
Keselowski held off tough challenges from Kevin Harvick and Austin Dillon to pick up his second Xfinity win of the season and the 34th of his career.
Sprint Cup star Dale Earnhardt Jr. was among those who offered a tip of the cap to Keselowski for a gritty and hard-fought triumph:

Saturday's race started later than expected after rain throughout the morning and early afternoon left the track wet. It also prompted NASCAR to cancel qualifying and set the field based on practice results.
Dillon started on the pole, and although Keselowski led eight of the first nine laps, Dillon dominated the early portion of the race. Even after a scheduled competition caution on the 25th lap, Dillon retained the lead and paced the field.
According to NASCAR Xfinity on Twitter, everything seemed to be in place for Dillon to make a run at the win based on the manner in which his previous Xfinity victories occurred:
The tide started to change on the 55th lap, however, as Kyle Busch chased Dillon down and took control of the race in preparation for Sunday's Sprint Cup event at Texas Motor Speedway.
Another Sprint Cup regular, Harvick pushed past Busch for the lead just five laps later as the drivers continued to acclimate themselves to a track that was damp for much of the day.
Busch regained the lead briefly on Lap 79 after a round of yellow-flag pit stops, but that was short-lived as disaster struck in the form of a broken shifter rod, per Lee Spencer of Motorsport.com:
Busch and his team decided to stay on the track rather than going behind the wall, which forced him to work out of fourth gear for the remainder of the race.
Harvick dropped back in the field as well after a bolt got stuck behind one of his tires. That allowed Keselowski to ascend to the lead for the first time since the early stages of the race.
A caution came out because of debris on the track with just 86 laps remaining, and that resulted in the fifth different leader of the race as Kyle Larson beat Keselowski off pit road.
Larson began to establish his car as the dominant one in the field, but it wasn't without some challenges, as he was forced to contend with some tire rub, which would come into play later:
After leading 40 laps, Larson was finally usurped by Keselowski during a green-flag pit stop on the 164th lap as the No. 22 car pushed into the lead for the fourth different time.
Larson returned to the front of the field a few laps later, though, and Harvick passed Keselowski as well for second despite his issues earlier in the race.
While the likes of Larson, Harvick and Keselowski battled for the lead, Busch's day got worse as he was penalized for speeding onto pit road and then needed a push from his crew to get out of his pit box.
The gear problems forced Busch to settle for a 14th-place finish, which was disappointing since he had a car that seemed to be capable of vying for the win.
Everything appeared to be in place for Larson to take the checkered flag, but the tire-rub issue manifested itself with just 24 laps remaining as his left rear tire went down, causing him to spin out while in the lead, as seen in this GIF, courtesy of NASCAR on NBC:
After the untimely incident, Larson was upset, according to Chris Knight of CatchFence.com:
That opened the door for another driver to steal the win, and Dillon moved into the lead after a great pit stop with just 18 laps remaining.
Things started to get interesting with 11 laps left as Keselowski passed Dillon, and Harvick got into the mix as well, which made for a three-way battle for first.
With Dillon and Harvick going back and forth for second place, Keselowski managed to pull away from the field and close out a wild victory at Texas Motor Speedway.
The win was a big one for Keselowski, as he will enter Sunday's Sprint Cup race with a ton of momentum and confidence on his side.
Keselowski is 24 points out of the fourth and final spot in the Chase for the Sprint Cup Championship Round, so he needs a great finish Sunday to get back into the mix.
If he manages to run like he did Saturday, a weekend sweep and a berth in the final Chase round may be in Keselowski's future.
