Horse racing's first Triple Crown winner in almost four decades became the first horse to not only win the Triple Crown but also the Breeders' Cup Classic on Saturday at Keeneland Racecourse in Lexington, Kentucky.

It was a wire-to-wire win for American Pharoah and jockey Victor Espinoza, as the legendary horse took part in his final race. Effinex and Honor Code placed and showed, respectively, but the race was over once the horses entered the final turn.

American Pharoah became the fifth Triple Crown-winning horse to win the final race of his career, according to ESPN Stats & Info.

Richard Deitsch from Sports Illustrated shared his thoughts on the dominating display that American Pharoah put on in Lexington:

It's not often that the greatest race horse of all time gets brought up in discussion. But after sweeping all four of horse racing's biggest events (all in dominant fashion), American Pharoah has to be considered one of the greatest to ever run.

There may not be another like him, so hopefully you got used to seeing greatness in a sport that doesn't often have it.

TVG provided a replay of the race, so you can see greatness ride for a final time:

Songbird already had the race won after the first turn.

The two-year-old filly is now 4-of-4 in her career after running away with the 14 Hands Winery Juvenile Fillies by four lengths over Rachel's Valentina and Dothraki Queen.

Songbird exploded out of the gate in the No. 10 position and took the early lead entering the first turn. She led by about two lengths going down the first half-mile until she stormed down the far turn, extending the lead and taking home the top prize of the $2 million purse.

Now batting 1.000 in her racing career, Songbird is already garnering interest in next year's Kentucky Derby and could be the favorite. Yahoo Sports' Pat Forde thinks so:

If the opportunity comes up, Songbird has to be the favorite heading into the Derby. Only three fillies have ever won the Derby, but she may be the most talented filly since Eight Belles, who finished second in the Kentucky Derby in 2008.

Mongolian Saturday barely hung on to win the Breeders' Cup Turf Sprint by a neck, edging out a late charge from Lady Shipman, with Green Mask finishing in third.

Florent Geroux's horse seemed to have a commanding lead coming down the final turn, but Lady Shipman made a final push toward the finish line. It was a photo finish, with Mongolian Saturday's head stretching across the line just in time.

Wavell Avenue had to make a late charge to win the Filly and Mare Sprint, passing La Verdad and Taris to take home the top prize of the $1 million purse.

The four-year-old filly was near the middle of the pack coming down to the last quarter-mile before surging to the front with an eighth of a mile to spare.

The Breeders' Cup official Twitter account shared the replay of the race, and you can see Wavell Avenue come out of nowhere to get a huge win for jockey Joel Rosario.

The old girl can still win.

Stephanie's Kitten's late charge at the end preserved a huge win for the six-year-old mare, as she took the top prize over Legatissimo and Queen's Jewel for her 10th career win.

Alicia Wincze Hughes from the Lexington Herald-Leader provided her thoughts on the improbable win:

This race proved that no matter the age, proper training can guide any horse to a win. If this was Stephanie's Kitten's last outing, there was no better way to go out on top than with a 10th win.

Runhappy not only ran away with the win in the Breeders' Cup Sprint, he ran away in record fashion.

The three-year-old colt won the Sprint by setting a track record of 1:08.58 with jockey Edgar Prado leading the charge. Runhappy edged out Private Zone and Favorite Tale to win.

Prado told Claire Novak of Blood-Horse that the plan was to make sure Runhappy recovered in time despite starting slow out of the gate.

"The plan was to try to go to the lead, come rolling out of there, don't be bottled up behind horses," Prado said. "Unfortunately, he's not real quick out of the gate. We used plan B, which is stay behind horses. He took a little kickback and that's where he dropped a little back in the turn."

Prado also gave his colt the highest of compliments, per Mike Welsch of the Daily Racing Form:

It's only right that a record-breaking horse gets compared to one of the greatest horses to ever race.

Tepin can hang with the guys.

The four-year-old filly stormed through a crowded field of colts to win the Breeders' Cup Mile by just over two lengths over Mondialiste and Grand Arch.

Tepin's jockey Julien Leparoux told Frank Angst of Blood-Horse he didn't think Tepin would be as far ahead as she was coming around the first turn.

"She broke well like she always does," Leparoux said. "I was surprised actually to be on the lead around the first turn. I thought that Obviously would be there already. He came across on me and I couldn't get out. As soon as I pulled, she was great, she just relaxed. On the backside, I was very confident."

This was one of the shockers of the afternoon, as Tepin pulled away late for a convincing win on the mile-long track.
