Tennessee-Florida: Vols Played A Shameful Game
Dear Tennessee Fans:
"You Play To Win The Game!" Herman Edwards taught us this lesson a few years back, and it will always remain the No. 1 commandment in football. Apparently your coach, Lane Kiffin, is of a different sect.
Lane Kiffin believes you play to keep it close. That's unacceptable.
Every year, college football fans are subjected to the talk about how tough the SEC is, and with the new ESPN contract, it's gone too far.
I'll say what everybody was thinking watching the UT v. Florida game: THE SEC IS SOFT!
Why do I say this? Simple, Lane Kiffin and his Vols would rather keep a game "close" than go for a win. How funny in that a league known for their toughness and speed the only speed shown was Lane Kiffin running out the clock.
The University of Tennessee should be ashamed of their actions on Saturday. Every offensive drive put together for the Volunteers was built around milking the clock and leaving town.
I understand that Jonathan Crompton is not a premier player, but If any school outside of the SEC did this, every SEC homer would be calling them cowards. Worse off, they'd be insulting the entire conference.
With that in mind, Lane Kiffin, you played 60 minutes of coward ball. I'd rather lose the way the Troy Trojans lost in the swamp than the Vols.
"We covered the spread!"
Pathetic.
Is Florida beatable? Yes. Will it be easy, No.
But to come out with so much talk about singing Rocky Top, and Urban Meyer being a cheater, Lane Kiffin only proved that he is all talk.
For the savior of Tennessee football, he is already behind the USC curve.
Look at Steve Sarkisian at Washington, he took over a team with ZERO wins last season, and he's already got two, including one against No. 3 USC.
Lane Kiffin and Tennessee, do me a favor, keep your mouth shut. Talk when you've beaten a top five squad.
You want to make an impact? Play somebody, and beat them. Schedule a team out of conference and make a stand. Stop trying to make impact in the media, and start making them on the field.
P.S. Losing to UCLA two years in a row isn't a stand.
