How Bogut's Injuries Impacted Warriors
Bogut suffered a broken nose in the preseason, but that injury didn't prevent him from missing much time. However, the big man has been hampered by a plethora of injuries over the course of his career, and his availability to the Warriors has been inconsistent as a result.
Last season, he dealt with knee troubles and missed 15 games. He also missed 15 games the season prior and appeared in just 44 games combined during the 2011-12 and 2012-13 seasons.
In fact, Bogut has appeared in all 82 regular-season games just once, and that was when he was a rookie with the Milwaukee Bucks.
When he's healthy, though, he is an absolute game-changer. His basic box-score numbers don't do his performance justice, but as the team's 2014-15 title run demonstrated, Bogut's defensive capabilities are top-notch.
According to NBA.com, the Warriors posted a defensive rating of 95.2 when Bogut was on the floor—a mark five points better than the team's defensive rating with him on the bench.
With Festus Ezeli a sturdy defensive presence who stepped in to play minutes at the 5, the Warriors were able to survive Bogut's absence and remain undefeated.
