Liverpool Transfer News: Latest on Yevhen Konoplyanka, William Carvalho Rumours
Sevilla star Yevhen Konoplyanka has stated he has no regrets picking the La Liga side over Liverpool and a host of other Premier League clubs during the summer transfer window, slamming the latter in the process.
As reported by the Guardian, Liverpool, Tottenham Hotspur and Stoke City were reportedly interested in his services, but the Ukraine international is glad he picked the Europa League winners, saying the football played in England is subpar compared to the Spanish product:
"If I was two-and-a-half metres tall and didn’t know how to control a ball then I may have gone to England, but here [in Spain], the football’s more technical. It’s the best.
I don’t regret coming to Spain. I didn’t receive many offers. Some came from the Premier League and Sevilla and Atletico from Spain, but I kept thinking that Sevilla were right for me.

The 25-year-old moved to Sevilla after a successful spell with Dnipro Dnipropetrovsk, having nearly joined the Reds in 2014, per the Guardian's Andy Hunter. Liverpool reportedly met the player's buyout clause, only to see Dnipro block the move.
For a player who nearly joined one of the Premier League's biggest clubs, these latest comments come as somewhat of a surprise. While most would agree La Liga is the best league in the world, leading the UEFA rankings by a huge margin, some of the best players in the world play in England, including technical masterminds like Sergio Aguero and Eden Hazard.
Martin Spinks of the Stoke Sentinel didn't react kindly to the sneer:
Konoplyanka hasn't enjoyed the greatest start to this Sevilla career, as he's yet to start his first La Liga match, per WhoScored.com. He did score in the Champions League clash with Borussia Monchengladbach and the winner in Sevilla's 3-2 triumph over Rayo Vallecano, and he's expected to become a starter before long.
His talent is unquestionable, as is the fact he would have been a success in the Premier League, where his blend of technique, pace and scoring would have been a smash hit. But perhaps some questions will be raised regarding his mentality, as this attack on English football was completely uncalled for.
Konoplyanka is 25 years old, and he doesn't know where his career may lead to next. Perhaps a move to a big Premier League club may one day be the next logical step in his career, and fans won't forget the things he said about the football that's played in Britain anytime soon.
Paris Saint-Germain Join Hunt for William Carvalho

According to Tuttomercatoweb (h/t Daily Star's Rhys Turrell), Portuguese youngster William Carvalho is a transfer target of Brendan Rodgers, but the Liverpool boss will have to battle both Chelsea and Paris Saint-Germain for his services.
The midfielder, who starred at this summer's Under-21 European Championship and has been sidelined for the past few months with an injury, has been linked with just about every top British club, per O Jogo (h/t Daily Express' Ben Jefferson).
As shared by Portuguese football expert Jan Hagen, he only recently celebrated his return to the pitch:
Carvalho has been a popular name in transfer-rumour circles for years, due to his obvious potential and rapid development. The 23-year-old was a part of Portugal's 2014 World Cup squad, a remarkable feat at his age, and he has the talent to be a world-class option at the holding midfielder position in the near future.
Sporting, his current club, have proven difficult to deal with in the past, and due to Carvalho's injury, a January move seems unlikely. The young midfielder will have to prove he's healthy and work toward his best form before any interested club will be willing to pay the massive transfer fee it will take to bring him into the fold.
But if all goes to plan, a summer move in 2016 is a real possibility. Carvalho will have the chance to prove his worth during Euro 2016―providing Portugal qualify―before moving to bigger and better things, and he projects as an impact starter in the Premier League.
Holding midfielder is the one position where the Reds don't have a particularly big need, with Emre Can, Jordan Henderson and Lucas Leiva all capable of playing there, but the Reds would be mad to pass up on the opportunity of signing such an incredible talent. Competition will be fierce, however, and if PSG get involved, the race may be over before it really started.
