Gayot Has Full Motion in Extremeties
Wednesday, Sept. 23
ESPN's Brett McMurphy reported Gayot was transported to Ryder Trauma Center in Miami immediately after getting hurt, and according to the Associated Press' Tim Reynolds, he has movement in his extremities. Reynolds was unable, however, to provide a potential return date for Gayot, who will wear a neck collar upon his release from the hospital, per Manny Navarro of the Miami Herald.
Gayot has played in each of the Hurricanes' three games in 2015, making seven total tackles, including 2.5 tackles for loss and 1.5 sacks.
The 20-year-old originally arrived in Coral Gables, Florida, as a safety, ranking 64th in 247Sports' composite rankings for the position. The coaching staff then moved him to linebacker prior to this year, and he has backed up Jermaine Grace since the position change.
Head coach Al Golden and his defensive coordinator, Mark D'Onofrio, will obviously need to find a replacement for Gayot in the Miami defense, but the bigger concern is for the sophomore to get back to full health.
