Wednesday Recap
It was a glorious day for Team Sky's Vasil Kiryienka, running away with the ITT world title. The Belarusian was in impressive form as he swept to first place, but Adriano Malori pushed him all the way.
Kiryienka posted the three fastest splits of the day, riding the first sector faster than Malori by nearly half a minute, according to Tissott Timing, giving him the platform needed to ride to a famous win.

Much was expected from popular rider Tony Martin, but the German could only finish in seventh. Martin was in second position at the first split but fell away in the second sector, ultimately ruining his final placing.
Mikkel Conde of C-Cycling.com gave his take on precisely why the time-trial specialist ultimately ended so far off the pace, allegedly dealing with a gear issue:
Martin was just 11 seconds behind Kiryienka in sector one, but he didn't have the stamina to claw back the gap.
Giant Alpecin's Konstanze Haue highlighted the winner's amazing consistency in demeanour:
However, Eurosport commentator Jose Been did manage to catch one cracked grin from the straight-faced Eastern European, who couldn't help but show some emotion following his staggering achievement:
The Team Sky man rode one of the great races of his life, and he has consistently proved to be among the best time-trial riders on the planet.
His concentration and skill are always precise, and despite competing against a stellar field, it always looked like he would be Wednesday's big winner.
