Will Davis to Ravens: Latest Trade Details, Comments and Reaction
The Baltimore Ravens acquired cornerback Will Davis from the Miami Dolphins on Monday. In exchange, the Ravens will send a 2016 seventh-round draft pick to Miami, Baltimore announced.
NFL Network's Ian Rapoport was among the first to report the deal, and Davis seemed to confirm the trade after tweeting "there's a time for everything" late Monday afternoon. He then followed it up with this tweet:

Rookie WRs Who Will Outplay Their Draft Value 📈
Although Baltimore allowed 351 yards and three touchdowns to Derek Carr in a 37-33 loss Sunday, the Ravens pass defense has performed reasonably well. Football Outsiders ranks the team fourth in pass defense DVOA (defense-adjusted value over average), while Pro Football Focus listed Baltimore as the 11th-best team in pass coverage.
Bleacher Report's Matt Miller still believes Baltimore was smart to shore up what otherwise could've been an issue going forward:
Davis played in 15 games over the past two seasons and started both Weeks 1 and 2 on the Dolphins' inactive list. He's unlikely to contribute to Baltimore in a big way, at least in the immediate future.
Meanwhile, the Miami secondary will continue to rely on Brice McCain and Bobby McCain to play opposite Brent Grimes, so Davis' departure won't radically alter the team's defense game plan.
However, Armando Salguero of the Miami Herald wonders if the 25-year-old will have a career similar to Vontae Davis, who thrived once he left the Dolphins:
As the Herald's Barry Jackson noted, trading Will Davis further establishes just how little return Miami has received from its 2013 draft class:
Should Davis become a key figure in the Baltimore defense, you can bet more questions will be asked of the Dolphins' management. In that regard, Miami is taking a bit of a risk with this trade.
For the Ravens, a seventh-round pick isn't a significant price to pay for a cornerback who has shown flashes of potential in the past.
