MS Dhoni Shines, McCullum Wears GoPro in Cricket for Heroes Charity Match
Past and present legends of the game were at the Oval on Thursday night for the inaugural Cricket For Heroes charity match.
Over £300,000 was raised on the night, to the delight of Surrey chief executive Richard Gould.
"This was a fantastic end of season party, attended by a galaxy of cricketing stars and 20,000 happy cricket fans," he told Sky Sports.
Former stars of the game including Brian Lara, Graeme Smith and Virender Sehwag joined the likes of Brendon McCullum and MS Dhoni in suiting up for the game.
Dhoni was the star of the show, scoring an unbeaten 38—including the winning runs—in a four-wicket victory for the Help For Heroes XI over the Rest of the World XI.
McCullum, who captained the losing side on the night, wore a GoPro camera on his helmet during his innings, which gave viewers a close-up view of Mahela Jayawardene's skill set in his 48.
Also featuring was former England captain Andrew Strauss, who scored a quick-fire 26 and lifted the trophy at the end of the evening.
Strauss was sponsored for £1,000 per boundary and also removed Lara with a stunning catch.
