Vontae Davis Injury: Updates on Colts CB's Concussion and Return
The Indianapolis Colts defense isn't loaded with playmakers, so having star defensive back Vontae Davis is a major boost for the team's Week 3 matchup against the Tennessee Titans.
Davis suffered a concussion in the team's Week 2 loss at the hands of the New York Jets, but Colts owner Jim Irsay confirmed that Davis was active for the AFC South clash. Davis had been listed as questionable for the matchup via Mike Chappell of Fox 59 on Sept. 24.
Davis has slowly gotten better since the Miami Dolphins took him 25th overall in the 2009 NFL draft, emerging as a starter in his rookie season. The Colts acquired him in 2012, and he has become a legitimate star since.

Rookie WRs Who Will Outplay Their Draft Value 📈
CBS Sports' Jason La Canfora emphasized Davis' value to the decimated Colts secondary Monday after the Pro Bowler was forced out of action:
Sam Monson of Pro Football Focus ranked Davis as the sixth-best player in the NFL regardless of position last season, citing his ability to lock down wide receivers as well as anyone else in the league.
"Despite being targeted 92 times (again, including the postseason) he allowed just 41 receptions (44.6 percent) and was beaten for an average gain of just 10.8 yards despite playing on the outside exclusively, where gains are usually longer than from the slot," Monson wrote.
Outscoring teams is fun to watch, but it doesn't often lead to prolonged success. Davis is essential to Indianapolis' hopes for this season.
