John Cena's Best Possible Directions After WWE Night of Champions 2015
Seth Rollins will defend the United States Championship against John Cena at Night of Champions on Sept. 20, but once that's over, there's still the matter of what to do with Cena, whether he wins the title back or not.
The longer Cena wrestles, the harder it becomes to book him. He has faced everyone in the main event scene multiple times, so there is little ground left for him to tread.
Giving Cena meaningful storylines is important for several reasons, not the least of which is his status as one of the company's biggest attractions.

Most Likely Backlash Heel/Face Turns 🎭
Let's take a look at some of the best ways to use the 15-time world champion following Night of Champions.
Cena Becomes U.S. Champion Again
Rollins' two titles have helped legitimize him as a top star in WWE, but there's no denying that as long as he holds the WWE World Heavyweight Championship, the U.S. title will be an afterthought.
If Rollins is meant to continue as world champion, he needs to drop the title back to the man who worked so hard to make it look credible over the past few months.
Defending the belt almost every week gave Cena the opportunity to face a lot of Superstars he normally wouldn't find himself fighting while also making the title look more important than it used to. Even if you're not a fan of his, you have to admit that it was great to see Cena produce great matches against the likes of Sami Zayn, Neville, Kevin Owens, Cesaro and many others.
It might seem pointless to put the U.S. title on Rollins just to take it off him four weeks later, but unless there is a good reason for him to hold both championships for a long time, it makes more sense for Cena to win the title and go back to defending it every week.
Cena Continues His Quest to Tie Ric Flair's Record
When Cena fought Rollins in a title-versus-title match, the only real mention of his possibly breaking Ric Flair's 16-reign record came after he failed to win the WWE World Heavyweight Championship.
Jon Stewart and Ric Flair were brought in as part of the storyline, but it didn't feel like anyone was treating it as the career-making accomplishment that it is.
If Cena doesn't leave Night of Champions with the U.S. title, one of the best ways to use him is to have him embark on a quest to reach his 16th world title reign.
It doesn't matter if the champion is Rollins or Sting following the pay-per-view. Cena can go after either man without the need for any deeper motivation than his pursuit of the belt.
Cena Goes After the One Title That Has Eluded Him
Despite attaining just about every accolade available in WWE, there is one title Cena has yet to hold: the Intercontinental Championship.
Cena has held over 20 titles, won the Royal Rumble twice and won Money in the Bank. To truly round out his resume, he needs to hold the IC title once.
Having a star as big as Cena hold the U.S. Championship did wonders for its credibility, and he could do the same for the Intercontinental Championship under the right circumstances.
Keeping him in the midcard scene for the time being gives others a chance to shine in the main event while letting Cena continue to face people he has rarely battled in the past. It's a win-win for everyone.
Cena Engages in a More Personal Feud
Cena has always been a man on a quest for gold, but sometimes it helps him to take a step back from the title scene and feud with someone for different reasons.
A lot of people would benefit from a storyline with Cena, and he can get just as much out of a program with a talented competitor with whom he doesn't have a lot of history. He could fight someone who is newer to the roster or he could pick up where he left off with someone like Bray Wyatt or Sheamus.
In the end, it doesn't matter who he feuds with. As long as the storyline makes sense and is based in logic, Cena can have a good program with just about anyone.
What do you think is the best way to use Cena following Night of Champions 2015?
