FedEx Cup Standings 2015: Latest Rankings After 2015 Deutsche Bank Championship
Not lost in the tremendous summers of Jordan Spieth and Jason Day is another young star in Rickie Fowler, who battled back from behind to win the 2015 Deutsche Bank Championship and surge into the FedEx Cup Standings' top five.
He began his Labor Day final round one stroke back from Henrik Stenson in the final pairing but ended the 72nd hole one stroke ahead of his Swedish playing partner. His four straight rounds of 67-67-67-68 were simply too much for anyone else to threaten, as Charley Hoffman was the only other golfer at double digits below par.
Fowler's victory catapulted him from outside of the top 10 all the way into No. 3 in the latest FedEx Cup standings, which still see Day out in front after his four victories and finishing tied for 12th place Monday. Spieth remained in second after missing the cut and picking up no points, while Watson held onto a top-five spot.
Take a look at the latest FedEx Cup top 15:

The evening in Norton, Massachusetts, may have ended with Fowler hoisting his third trophy of the season, but for much of the afternoon, that didn't appear to be the most likely scenario.
That's because Stenson began his final round a man on a mission, remaining firmly in front with nobody but Fowler near him on the leaderboard. The Swedish golfer's booming fairway hits gave him a distance advantage, as Shane Bacon of Fox Sports quipped:
As the final pair reached the back nine, the tournament was still Stenson's to lose as he held his lead over Fowler. The lead was three after 10 and one with five holes left, but a costly mistake on the 16th hole turned the tables in the American's favor.
Stenson's approach shot on No. 16 found water, leading to a double bogey that pushed Fowler in front. After coming from behind dramatically, he wasn't about to give up the championship and a quick 2,000 FedEx Cup points.
Coming from behind is a place that Fowler has grown accustomed to this season. After coming up short while in similar positions at countless majors already, he's showing an affinity for late comebacks in 2015, as ESPN Stats & Info showed:
It's no secret that Fowler has had some extra motivation throughout the second half of the season. That came from an anonymous players' poll, which pegged Fowler and Ian Poulter as the most overrated golfers on the PGA Tour.

Of course, critics were silenced directly after when Fowler took home The Players. This makes it three titles since that poll was dropped, which caused Fowler to have some fun with the media afterward, as ESPN's Jason Sobel noted:
Although he's only been a part of it, Fowler has contributed to an incredible reign over the sport from three players—himself, Day and fellow American Spieth. The trio have combined to win well over a dozen tournaments in the last nine months, as Golf Channel's Justin Ray noted:
The top names aren't the only golfers who made a strong surge into FedEx Cup contention as the season dwindles down. Hoffman also joined the party with a third-place finish that was deterred by a third-round 76, without which he may have strolled to victory Monday.
Regardless, Hoffman climbed 11 spots into sixth place and could move into serious contention for the $10 million prize with a victory down the stretch.
With how things are going as of late in the sport, however, it's hard to envision a champion outside of the three young stars who are dominating golf. And as of now, Fowler has had the most recent laugh.
