Real Madrid Transfer News: Mega Cristiano Ronaldo Bid Made by PSG, Top Rumours
Ligue 1 champions Paris Saint-Germain reportedly had their eyes set on the biggest of transfer targets in the recently closed summer transfer window but had a mammoth bid for Cristiano Ronaldo rejected by Real Madrid.
According to Brazilian outlet Globo Esporte (h/t ESPN FC), PSG made a £110 million move for the Portuguese superstar.
Real unsurprisingly dismissed the bid, although even the La Liga giants must have been pleased to have attracted such a huge sum for a player nearing the end of his prime—Ronaldo is now 30 years old.

The Globo Esporte report (h/t ESPN FC) suggested PSG have not given up hope, though, hinting that Ronaldo could become available next summer.
Los Blancos had an unspectacular transfer window with no Galactico signings arriving at the Bernabeu under new manager Rafael Benitez, per Bleacher Report's Sam Tighe:
However, they did succeed in keeping hold of Sergio Ramos, and even such a huge bid from PSG could not pique their interest in letting Ronaldo go.
With the former Manchester United man having netted 48 La Liga goals last term this is far from a shock, per WhoScored.com.
A similarly sized bid next summer, though, could prove successful for PSG if Ronaldo's form dips this season, as it potentially could as age catches up with him.
With Zlatan Ibrahimovic's contract set to expire in 2016, PSG could well be in the market for a new superstar next year, and they are not short on cash.
Another key player Real held on to in the summer was striker Karim Benzema, and the Frenchman has now rubbished the long-term exit talk that linked him with a move to Arsenal.
Per French outlet Telefoot (h/t the Independent's James Orr) Benzema never had any intention of leaving the Bernabeu:
"There was nothing in the talk of a transfer away from Madrid. I'm happy at my current club, it's the best in the world. I'll continue to work here and be happy where I am. It's been like four months since I played properly. I've played a little bit for Madrid, but that's all. I'm working little by little to be back in shape.
"
Benitez will need both Ronaldo and Benzema to be at the top of their games for the 2015-16 season as Real look to win the La Liga title for the first time since 2012 and make an impact in the Champions League.
The speculation surrounding the duo will likely continue, but at least for now, they remain two of Real Madrid's key assets.
