Real Madrid Transfer News: Florentino Perez Speaks About Sergio Ramos Rumours
Real Madrid president Florentino Perez has spoken out against the rumours that flooded his club this summer in the anticipation of Sergio Ramos' proposed move to Manchester United.
The Real supremo completely dismissed the speculation and said he didn't think his club captain would leave Los Blancos for the Red Devils.
As reported by the Guardian (h/t Joe Short of the Express), Perez described the long running saga as "just another episode of the summer" and said that "there is nothing to talk about. Nothing eventually happened."

However, Perez did elaborate: “I never saw Ramos leaving this club; he was never close to doing so. Manchester United meddled in the situation. Those who want to do harm to Real Madrid meddle but nothing really happened, nothing more than happens every summer.”
Prominent Spanish football expert Graham Hunter broke the news of Ramos' prospective move to United and insisted the defender was serious about departing the Bernabeu.
Hunter insisted to talkSport Ramos was not using the Old Trafford giants to gain a new deal from Perez, but that's exactly how it eventually played out:
"Sergio Ramos and his brother Rene, who is also his agent, are not toying with Manchester United. Ramos is undoubtedly unhappy with the way he’s been treated at Real Madrid. Is this story coming about simply so that United can be stalking horse and Ramos can get more money? The answer is no.
Ramos is the type of man who on the point of principle will ask to leave, he will force his way out. He would experiment with British football.
"

Ramos might have been tempted by the incredible wealth on offer in England as his career enters its latter years, but he didn't have the desire to leave the Spanish capital and become an outcast among Madridistas.
The 29-year-old took the club's armband before signing his new deal—a sure-fire sign he had little intention of moving to the Premier League.
Ramos started 35 times in La Liga and the Champions League combined last term, per WhoScored.com, and he is far too important for any club—even one as big as Madrid—to lose. He has already proved how vital he is this season:
Madrid had a spiky relationship with United this summer, with Perez admitting the Old Trafford club's executive vice-chairman, Ed Woodward, enquired about a number of their talents, per the Guardian: “We know that United showed interest in Bale, [Karim] Benzema and [Raphael] Varane."
United obviously wanted a prized asset in return for David De Gea, who seemed certain to be heading back to his hometown of Madrid before the end of the transfer window. But the deal collapsed in the final minutes before its closure, with Ramos dismissing the goalkeeper's bad luck at missing out, per the Sun:
The fashion for using reported interest from rival clubs to help expedite contract negotiations has become a popular tactic with agents and players, and United will feel the Madrid captain used them as a means to an end.
There appeared to be a tidal wave of energy surrounding the prospective move, but with DDG as the bargaining chip, Ramos and Madrid instead opted to reconcile.
De Gea will likely end up a Galactico in the next 12 months as his Old Trafford deal comes to an end—but the chances of Ramos ever joining United are now certainly dead.
