Ogbuehi On NFI List

The Bengals officially put Ogbuehi on the reserve/non-football injury list Tuesday, per the team's official Twitter.
Ogbuehi tore his ACL in Texas A&M's bowl game against West Virginia on December 29. The Bengals drafted the 23-year-old offensive tackle with the 21st overall pick.
The team understood it might take time before Ogbuehi could slot into the lineup, as Geoff Hobson of Bengals.com wrote in a May chat the plan was to have him start this season on the PUP list: "That’s the plan. Bring him along slowly. You won’t see him in pads until most likely the seventh week of the regular season. But it seems that they think he’s rehabbed well enough that he should be able to contribute in a limited role after that point."
The non-football injury list is a common landing spot for incoming players who suffered a serious injury in college. For instance, Marcus Lattimore was placed on the list in the summer of 2013 by the San Francisco 49ers.
Ogbuehi's injury situation is vastly different from Lattimore's, who had two significant knee injuries in a 12-month period.
With Ogbuehi likely to miss the first part of this season, the Bengals will be able to rely on their depth. Andre Smith and Andrew Whitworth are the starters at tackle, and Jake Fisher and Eric Winston are the backups.
The Bengals are fortunate to have quality depth on the offensive line to start the season. They need to let Ogbuehi return at 100 percent so he's not risking further damage, and he is able to show off his skills when head coach Marvin Lewis puts him in a game.
