Pearland West (Texas) could not break through against Mid-Atlantic champion Red Land (Pennsylvania) in the double-elimination game Wednesday, but the Southwest regional representatives will get one more chance to prove themselves worthy of becoming U.S. Little League champions Thursday against Sweetwater Valley (California).
The same holds true for Venezuela on the international side of the competition. The Latin America regional champions played a hard-fought eight-inning game against Japan, but the team came out on the short end of a 5-4 score. The Cardenales will play Mexico on Thursday.

Red Land has been scoring a boatload of runs throughout the Little League tournament, but Pearland West did a good job of keeping the Mid-Atlantic champions from breaking the game open. However, Red Land scored a run in the first inning on a Jaden Henline single, and Cole Wagner added a third-inning home run in a 3-0 Red Land victory. Adam Cramer struck out 13 for the victors in five innings on the mound.
A crowd of 35,107, the largest of the Little League World Series, attended the game:

On the international side, Japan's Yugo Aoki singled home Yuta Komaba with the winning run in the bottom of the eighth inning to put away Venezuela. The Latin America team had taken the lead with two runs in the top of the inning, but the Japanese squad responded with three in the bottom of the inning to secure the victory.
“A tough game,” manager Junji Hidaka told the Associated Press (h/t Japan Times). “The players were great.”
