After coming out on the losing end, LSU coach Lane Kiffin couldn't resist getting in a shot at his old employer.

Ole Miss set an attendance record against the Tigers with 70,033 fans packing Vaught-Hemingway Stadium to see the Rebels win 32-24.

Kiffin thought he deserved some credit for the general energy leading up to the game.

"The stadium was full an hour early," he told reporters. "So, I guess I had to leave to get them to do that. So, you're welcome."

Ole Miss won 10-plus games in four of Kiffin's six seasons on the sideline. Nothing excites a fanbase than winning games, and that's exactly what the coach delivered.

His exit for LSU also guaranteed the atmosphere for Saturday would be electric. The stars aligned so that Kiffin returned to Oxford only months after leaving Ole Miss high and dry ahead of the College Football Playoff.

The anti-Kiffin chants were underway hours before kickoff as ESPN's College GameDay set up its broadcast on the Ole Miss campus.

The fans certainly did their part to make the setting less than hospitable for LSU.
