The U.S. women's national team thrashed Costa Rica 8-0 in a friendly as part of the victory tour following the 2015 FIFA Women's World Cup. After winning it all in Canada, the USWNT put on a real show for the crowd at Pittsburgh's Heinz Field.
Forward Christen Press scored a hat-trick, while Heather O'Reilly bagged a brace from midfield. The 30-year-old FC Kansas City Star took a moment after the match to thank the crowd in the Steel City, per the USWNT's official Twitter feed:

The game was played in front of 44,028 fans, a Pittsburgh record for a soccer match, according to Fox Sports' Laura Vecsey. ESPN's Graham Hays took a snap of the impressive attendance:
VecseyĀ took to Twitter to note how O'Reilly's performance puts her in the frame for the Women's Olympic Football Tournament to be held during the games in Brazil's Rio de Janeiro in 2016:
Pittsburgh's ownĀ Meghan Klingenberg also got in on the scoring act. She responded by waving a Terrible Towel, the favorite celebratory trinket of Pittsburgh Steelers fans.
Freelance writer Caitlin Murray noted how coach Jill Ellis helped inspire the 27-year-old defender's celebration:
Even the Steelers themselves took notice, giving her a hometown seal of approval, via the franchise's Twitter account:
Writing for the Guardian, Murray noted how this celebration tour can act as a "player trial period and preparation" for the Olympic slate. However, Murray also quoted Ellis in noting that maintaining merit is the only thing that will count in a player's favor when it comes to keeping a place in the senior squad:Ā āPlayers that come into this program, they canāt just grow in the program. They have to thrive and belong in the program.ā
So while the likes of O'Reilly and Press certainly helped their chances, performances on this tour don't make them locks for Brazil:
Ultimately, while it's only natural to already be thinking about Rio, this is still about celebrating the events in Canada. If through the course of basking in that triumph, Ellis finds a player or two worthy of being Olympic-bound, all the better.
Press certainly did her chances no harm here.
