Sunday Recap

Jose Mourinho was left nowhere to hide after a week of controversy, as his Chelsea side were dismantled 3-0 by a buoyant Manchester City.
The mercurial Sergio Aguero opened the scoring for last year's disposed champions, with the Argentina international causing havoc in the Blues' area. The striker converted just after half-an-hour of the match, after combining with Yaya Toure on the edge of the box, and he finished with aplomb.
City took the goal lead into half-time and continued to control the match in the second half. The Telegraph's Paul Hayward spoke about City's excellence—after a strong performance in their opening match:
Statistics website WhoScored.com highlighted the magnificent contribution of the ever-dangerous Aguero:
Chelsea found their way back into the match in the second 45 minutes, after the shock substitution of captain John Terry—brought off for tactical reasons.
The centre-back looked openly shocked at his substitution, per the Daily Mail:
It took the home side until the 79th minute to all but effectively kill the match as Vincent Kompany grabbed his second goal in as many matches.
The Belgian defender—who has looked supremely motivated in City's opening games—beat the Chelsea defence with a front-post dash after a corner and headed in his side's second goal of the game.
The game was put to bed in style just six minutes later as Brazilian midfielder Fernandinho struck a beautiful shot to make it 3-0.
Football pundit Danny Higginbotham mused as to why Chelsea collapsed during their visit to Manchester, and spoke about the impact of Nemanja Matic:
Mourinho was in a defiant mood after the game and fielded questions about his controversial withdrawal of Terry, per Match of the Day:
In Sunday's other match, Arsenal grabbed their first win of the campaign with a 2-1 win at Crystal Palace.
The Gunners opened the scoring after 16 minutes from a spectacular acrobatic strike from Olivier Giroud. The Frenchman instinctively met Mesut Ozil's cross, and he made sure of his finish to give Arsenal the lead.
However, Palace have become known for their resilience, and they were back on level terms 12 minutes later after a sweet driven finish from Joel Ward. The defender smashed a grass-cutting shot from the edge of the penalty box to find the corner of Petr Cech's goal.

The sides reconvened for the second half at 1-1, and it wasn't long before the Gunners were back in the lead from an Alexis Sanchez header.
The Chile superstar rose at the far post to nod his header towards goal—and the ball was deflected by Palace's Damien Delaney into his own net.
Palace will feel disappointed by referee Lee Mason, who twice refused to brandish a likely second yellow card to Arsenal midfielder Coquelin, with Eagles boss Alan Pardew protesting, per TalkSport:
However, despite a late charge, the Selhurst Park club were unable to delight their fans for a second time and surrendered the points to the north Londoners.
The season is starting to shape up nicely, and with only a couple of matches gone, it is clear to see who is in form and not.
Chelsea have massive issues after coming off a pre-season to forget, and there is a certain malaise about Mourinho's side which will worry him.
The manager himself also seems hot under the collar about events at his club, and he didn't handle the questions about Terry well after the game, appearing more than a little agitated.
This can be expected after a sound beating from one of your rivals, but the champions are already five points behind City and look a class below their normal standard.
