Having led 38 laps of a possible 75, Tagliani, the pole winner, looked to have the race sealed with two turns to go before the checkered flag. But Smith came up behind the leader's bumper and, with a little nudge, sent him outside.

NASCAR on NBC had the replay of the move:

Smith managed to stay on the inside and take the checkered flag in the last 500 feet in a win that must have been sweet for him.

A week after Ty Dillon ran him off the track at Watkins Glen, which led to fisticuffs in the pits after the race, Smith found a way to Victory Lane for the first time this season.

NASCAR Xfinity tweeted its reaction at the checkered flag:

The Xfinity Series points leader, Chris Buescher, started in second place and was within the top three for most of the day, but Dillon overtook him on the final restart. Buescher managed to hold off Chase Elliott for fourth place and still holds a 24-point cushion over Austin Dillon for the points lead.

It was apparent he was going to be in contention early on. Buescher needed a clean start on the road course, and despite meandering outside in the second position, he was able to establish his spot behind Tagliani comfortably.

David Starr caused the first caution of the day on Lap 8, and with most cars pitting, Boris Said stayed out to take the lead. But on the restart, Elliott overpowered him, shooting out in front.

Buescher dropped to 13th, while Tagliani drifted to 14th, but another caution, thanks to a Kenny Habul blown tire, allowed them to make their way right back up.

With various pit stops from those in front, Buescher was back up to second by the 15th lap, with Tagliani right behind him in third. And with the restart on Lap 17, the roles of the race's early stages were reversed, with Buescher taking the lead and Tagliani right behind him as they created space from the rest of the pack.

It was Tagliani's turn to overtake Buescher in a brilliant move on the outside on another restart on the 26th lap, but green flag racing didn't last long. On the same lap, the caution flag came out again because of fluid on the track.

Tagliani retained his lead on the restart on Lap 29, and the duo built a two-second cushion in front of the rest of the field. After they established that advantage, Tagliani opened things up between him and Buescher, grabbing a one-second lead.

Buescher continued to drop, allowing Smith to pass him easily on the 40th lap. But before a caution on Lap 42, there was a nine-second gap between third and fourth place.

It was back to the pits for a majority of the pack as all hands were on deck for the pit crews; however, Tagliani and Smith were back on the track first. Xfinity Racing shows the race to the line out of the pits:

It was the No. 7 of Smith that took the lead on the restart on the 45th lap, with the usual pair of Tagliani and Buescher trailing.

Another caution with less than 25 laps to go repacked the field with the checkered flag in shouting distance. With 20 laps left on the restart, Smith retained his lead, while Buescher forced Tagliani outside.

Somehow, Tagliani managed to retain second, while Buescher had to battle for third with Ty Dillon and Elliott. But two turns into the 55th lap saw the points leader open some distance from the two, who began the day tied for second in the points standings behind Buescher.

Tagliani made his move with 15 laps to go, opening up and making a great run on Turn 2 to motor past Smith on the inside.

The leaders now turned their eyes on how much fuel they had left, multitasking in holding their places while making sure they had enough to finish.

Ryan Reed bailed them out with 11 laps to go, skidding off the track, instituting the day's seventh caution and saving just a bit more fuel for the leaders.

With seven laps to go, Tagliani's furious restart saw him basically wrap up the race, until a three-car pileup toward the back of the pack brought out the eighth caution of the day.

The last restart was all Tagliani yet again with three laps to go. Getting the inside advantage on the final turn going into the restart, he beat Smith on the straightaway to start.

Dillon found a way to pass Buescher for third, who was not too pleased to lose out to the man closest to him in the points standings. Buescher even gave Dillon a little bump shortly afterward.

It almost turned into a disaster when coming out of Turn 3, as Buescher went sideways but managed to save a wreck and hold his position before Smith's bump on Tagliani. NBC Sports' Dustin Long caught Tagliani's reaction after the race:

Tagliani will not have an opportunity to pursue revenge on Smith, as he won't be participating in next week's Food City 300 from Bristol Motor Speedway.

With the win, Smith remains in fourth place with 714 points but is now just 27 points behind second-place Dillon. But another consistent top-10 finish from Buescher makes the task of toppling him from the top spot in the Xfinity Series seem impossible.
