Jason Day and Matt Jones sit atop the 2015 PGA Championship at the halfway point as things transition to the weekend at Whistling Straits.

It's been a wild ride so far, with notable players such as Tiger Woods struggling, Jordan Spieth making an impressive comeback charge and surprising monster performances from Day, Justin Rose and others.

Before play picks up early Saturday to finish out a rain-delayed Round 2, here's a look at the leaderboard, which will update as the action unfolds:

Round 3 Predictions for Top Names

Jordan Spieth

After a sluggish first-round 71 Thursday, Spieth rediscovered his form that helped him to two majors and a tie for fourth at the third with a second-round 67 Friday.

Spieth came out of the gates whipping the ball across the course with accuracy, posting three early birdies on the way to six total, offset by a bogey. The most notable birdie of all? The dreaded No. 18. ESPN Stats & Info dug up the numbers:

It's easy to think Spieth is just hitting his stride. He hasn't been in this situation often this year, although a Round 2 score of 72 at The Open Championship before he went on to finish fourth is comparable.

Spieth's one round ahead by comparison this time and shouldn't have any issues pulling in next to the leaders Saturday. All season he's displayed an uncanny coolness under pressure, which has made him golf's best player. Look for it to show on the course yet again.

Prediction: Spieth shoots a 66 in Round 3.

Dustin Johnson

As the leader after Thursday, Dustin Johnson did much to put behind him the late-tournament debacle at the U.S. Open.

Thursday, he shot five birdies and wowed the crowd with an eagle on No. 16.

Then Friday hit.

Johnson flashed with two birdies over his first nine, then collapsed on the back, shooting four total bogeys on the way to finishing one over par through 14 holes, putting him tied for 12th place. Even before the rough showing, ESPN Stats & Info foreshadowed his issues based on his trends in majors:

The good news? Johnson has time to turn things around with the second round far from final. Johnson put himself in a good position to recover thanks to his strong opening round.

How Johnson comes out early Saturday morning will show his tournament fortunes. It could swing either way, but odds are he'll even out and stick around in the top 10.

Prediction: Johnson shoots a 70 in Round 3.

Jason Day

Based on majors performances this year, this wasn't hard to see coming from Day.

Day finished tied for 28th at the Masters, then jumped to a tie for ninth at the U.S. Open before a tie for fourth at The Open Championship.

Considering he has two top-10 finishes at this tournament in five appearances—including a tie for 10th the last time it took place at Whistling Straits in 2010—it seemed like the proverbial stars would align for Day.

Round 1 proved fruitful with an eagle on No. 2 and three birdies. Day, unlike some other early names near the top of the leaderboard, kept his momentum alive with six birdies to one bogey in Round 2 through 14 holes.

Day spoke about putting himself in better position to contend late in tournaments, per ESPN.com's Bob Harig: "It's very difficult to try and close on Sunday at a major championship. I think the more opportunities I give myself, sooner or later it's going to happen. I know that."

Call it mission accomplished, or at least one of the major goals on the way to the mission checked off. Day's on fire through two rounds, inclement weather or not, and there's no reason to believe the good form will fade.

Prediction: Day shoots a 67 in Round 3.
