Amaro Placed on IR After Surgery
Wednesday, Sept. 2
Amaro posted a photo on Instagram after surgery on his injured shoulder:
The Jets announced Amaro was placed on IR with the designation to return on Sept. 1.
Much was expected of Amaro after the Jets selected him in the second round of the 2014 draft. He caught 38 passes for 345 yards and two touchdowns.
Prior to the injury, the second-year player was listed as third on the depth chart, per Newsday's Kimberley A. Martin on Aug. 10:
Amaro could have used the preseason to prove himself worthy of a bigger role, but given his standing prior to the injury, it won't be a big blow to the Jets offense as currently constructed. However, tight ends Jeff Cumberland and Kellen Davis are as skilled catching passes as Amaro, leaving the door open for the second-year pro to find his niche upon his return.
