By this point, the UFC has held events all over the world, from Argentina to Azerbaijan to Singapore. Still, there are plenty of countries the promotion has yet to visit, and today, it'll cross another one off the list, as the Octagon touches down in Serbia for the first time.
Because of the time difference, Saturday's card in the capital city of Belgrade will kick off nice and early for fans in North America. There is plenty of reason to get your coffee brewed up and tune in.
In the main event, Serbia's top MMA export, Uros Medic, will look for his second win over a ranked welterweight, as he takes on dangerous veteran Daniel Rodriguez. It's certainly a tough matchup, but if he's able to win it, it will open the door to the division's top-10, where only the most elite fighters reside.
Belgrade's co-main event will also be a big one, as former light heavyweight champion Jan Blachowicz looks for a late-career win over surging New Zealand contender Navajo Sterling. Poland's Blachowicz was initial set to run it back with Bogdan Guskov on the card, but shifted his focus to the unbeaten Kiwi striker when his original opponent was called upon to fight Magomed Ankalaev in Abu Dhabi last weekend.
The card will also feature the heavyweight debut of Serbia's Aleksandar Rakic, who will look for his first victory since 2021 against long-time Polish contender Marcin Tybura. Several other fighters will be carrying the Serbian flag in Belgrade, while representatives from many other European countries will also return to the cage.
It's a very important event for European MMA, and it should be a fun watch for the North American fans that opt to tune in.
The undercard begins at 10:00 am ET, and the main card at 1:00 pm. Keep it locked here for full results, updates, and highlights from the card.
