Lindsey Vonn Gives New Update on Gruesome Leg Injury Suffered at 2026 Olympics in Video
United States skier Lindsey Vonn provided an update on the significant leg injury that she suffered at the 2026 Milano Cortina Olympics.
"My left leg is actually healing really nicely," Vonn said during a Friday appearance on SportsCenter (0:07 mark). "I still have no ACL, so I need to get the metal out and fix that. But my right ankle has been the problem child. It's still broken, but it doesn't hurt that much."

Vonn also discussed her recovery process following the injury.
"I've learned a lot about patience," Vonn said (0:30 mark). "I thought I knew something about it, but it really tested me in so many ways. I felt like I was working so hard but progress was just so slow. The bones don't heal the same way that ligaments do and I wasn't quite used to that. But I had a lot of support from my friends and family."
Vonn ended her retirement and returned to downhill skiing for the 2026 Games, competing at the Olympics despite suffering a torn ACL two weeks earlier. She then suffered a tibia fracture and a broken ankle in Cortina d'Ampezzo.
The three-time Olympic medalist later explained that her torn ACL did not cause the crash that resulted in her other leg injuries.
Now, Vonn is continuing to navigate through a lengthy recovery process and keeping a positive mindset while doing so.
