Conor McGregor Injury Update Provided by Dana White After UFC 329 Loss to Max Holloway
UFC CEO Dana White gave an update on the knee injury that forced Conor McGregor to retire in the first round of his loss to Max Holloway at UFC 329 on Saturday.
"I mean, I was expecting at least a one-round war," White told reporters after the fight. "You know, who knew what Conor was capable of as far as cardio or whatever else after a five-year layoff? Well, there you go. We're assuming blown ACL. I'm no doctor, but that's what I figured when I saw it and the doctors think the same thing too."
In the opening seconds of the rematch, McGregor charged at Holloway and attempted a jumping kick before landing awkwardly on his right leg.
The 37-year-old attempted to get up and continue but was ultimately unable to do so, as the referee called the fight off.
McGregor immediately departed the Octagon and left T-Mobile Arena shortly after the final result, skipping his post-fight interview.
Saturday was McGregor's first professional fight since 2021.
