Gary Trent Jr., Bucks Reportedly Agree to New Contract After Giannis, Tyler Herro Trade with Heat
The Milwaukee Bucks are bringing back Gary Trent Jr. for a third season.
The Bucks and Trent have agreed to a four-year, $64 million deal, ESPN's Shams Charania reported Saturday.
Trent will earn $15.2 million next season, per ESPN's Bobby Marks.
The news comes after the Bucks reshaped their roster by trading Giannis Antetokounmpo to the Miami Heat in exchange for a package including Tyler Herro.
The deal is fully guaranteed with no options, per HoopsHype's Michael Scotto.
The signing leaves the Bucks with 16 contracts on the roster and a projected $11 million in room below the luxury tax threshold, according to CapSheets' Yossi Gozlan.
The Bucks decided to re-sign Trent after spending the last week "sorting through sign-and-trade possibilities from interested teams," Charania reported.
Trent originally joined the Bucks on a one-year, $2.6 million deal before signing a two-year, $7.6 million contract last offseason. He declined his $3.9 million player option in order to test free agency this offseason.
The 27-year-old will now be receiving a significant raise despite coming out of his least productive season since his 2019-20 rookie campaign.
Trent averaged 8.1 points, one rebound and 1.2 assists through 65 games and 21 starts mostly while backing up A.J. Green last season.
He shot 38.7 percent from the field and 36 percent from deep while averaging 21.2 minutes per night.
Trent was originally selected in the second round of the 2018 draft by the Sacramento Kings before his rights were traded to the Portland Trail Blazers.
He played two and a half seasons with the Blazers and three and a half with the Toronto Raptors before joining the Bucks in 2024.
