The match between the United States and Bosnia and Herzegovina wasn't the only game that has set English-language viewership records during the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
An average of more than 5 million U.S. viewers tuned into group stage games on FOX, FS1 and Tubi, the most in English-language broadcast history, according to Fox Sports.
More than 16 million viewers tuned in to watch the U.S. men's national team play Paraguay, Tรผrkiye and Australia during that group stage, according to the network.
English- and Spanish-language broadcasts combined drew 9.65 million viewers per match in a 105 percent increase in viewership numbers from the 2022 FIFA World Cup, per Rick Porter of the Hollywood Reporter.
Mexico's three group-stage games averaged more than 10 million viewers across Telemundo and Peacock, according to Porter.
That high viewership has so far continued into the knockout round. The English-language broadcast of Monday's Round of 32 matchup between Morocco and the Netherlands attracted 10.579 million viewers, Fox Sports reported.
That set a record for the most-watched English-language American broadcast of any World Cup game not featuring the USMNT or taking place in the final, according to the network.
Fox Sports, Telemundo and Peacock could be expecting to set more records this weekend as the knockout round continues with Round of 16 matchups featuring Mexico versus England on Sunday followed by the United States versus Belgium on Monday.
