Floyd Mayweather vs. Manny Pacquiao Boxing Rematch Postponed Indefinitely, New Fight Eyed
Jas Mathur, the CEO of Manny Pacquiao Promotions, confirmed Friday that the potential fight between Pacquiao and Floyd Mayweather in September has been postponed indefinitely, per Ring Magazine.
Netflix was set to broadcast the rematch of Mayweather's 2015 victory over Pacquiao, a fight that was one of the biggest spectacles in the history of the sport.
Mathur said Pacquiao is seeking a new potential opponent in the interim.
"We're working on it. We're looking at different options, we're looking at different things," he said. "We want to be very careful. Of course we are under contract at this time, but yes, we are working on trying to get an alternate fight as well or something in place for Manny at this moment. But we want it to be the right opportunity with the right partners and also so he has enough time for his camp against Floyd."
Mathur did say he expects Pacquiao and Mayweather to eventually fight.
"Yes I do. The first one took five years to put together and this won't take that long," he said. "There's a lot of reasons why the fight is going to take place and why it should take place. No one can ever give a guarantee to anything but are we optimistic."
Pacquiao, 47, last fought professionally in July 2025, drawing against Mario Barrios. He's 62-9-3 in his career.
Mayweather, 49, last fought professionally in 2017, beating Conor McGregor. He's 50-0 in his career. He's fought multiple times in exhibitions since.
