Claressa Shields vs. Kaye Scott Middleweight Title Fight Announced, Full Details Revealed
Undisputed women's heavyweight champion Claressa Shields is looking to reclaim what she never lost.
According to ESPN's Andreas Hale, Shields will drop down three weight classes from heavyweight to middleweight to face Kaye Scott for the WBC and WBA middleweight titles on Aug. 15 at State Farm Arena in Atlanta. The undefeated Shields (18-0, 3 KOs) previously held those titles when she reigned as undisputed women's middleweight champion, and she hasn't fought in the division since 2023.
"At this point in my career, every fight is about legacy," Shields said in a statement. "Every fight now is about pushing the boundaries of what's possible -- for myself, for women's boxing, and for the next generation coming behind me through Claressa Shields Promotions."

Shields most recently defended her undisputed heavyweight titles in a rematch with Franchon Crews Dezurn in February. She was also the undisputed women's junior middleweight champion, making her the only woman ever to be undisputed champion in three different divisions. In all, she's held world titles in five weight classes and two Olympic gold medals.
Shields' last four fights have been at heavyweight, and she's weighed as much as 174 pounds. She will drop back down to 160 pounds to face Scott (5-1-1), who claimed the unified middleweight titles in December with a majority decision win over Olivia Curry.
"Kaye Scott is a champion, and I respect what she's accomplished," Shields said. "But becoming undisputed at 160 pounds again starts with beating the best. That's always been my mindset. I don't chase easy fights, I choose meaningful ones."
