Darryn Peterson Signs 'Massive' Adidas Shoe Contract After Going No. 2 in NBA Draft to Jazz
Darryn Peterson reportedly signed a hefty shoe contract with Adidas after the Utah Jazz selected the former Kansas guard with the No. 2 overall pick in the 2026 NBA draft.
According to footwear industry reporter Nick DePaula, Peterson signed a "massive long-term deal" with Adidas that represented one of the five richest rookie shoe contracts in NBA history.
Peterson previously signed an NIL contract with Adidas in 2023 and is now coming off a stellar freshman year at Kansas.
While he was limited to 24 games due to hamstring, quad and ankle issues last season, he still displayed his all-around impact when available.
Peterson averaged 20.2 points, 4.2 rebounds, 1.6 assists and 1.4 steals per game while shooting 43.8 percent from the field. He also connected on 38.2 percent of his three-pointers while attempting 6.9 triples per game.
Bleacher Report's Jonathan Wasserman compared Peterson to Minnesota Timberwolves star Anthony Edwards in his scouting report.
"Unless Peterson's playmaking was severely masked by his role at Kansas and injuries, he profiles similarly to Anthony Edwards as a scoring 2-guard," Wasserman wrote. "Both are special shot-makers capable of hitting self-created jumpers and threes. They are used to generating offense out of isolation and ball screens, but they are also efficient off the ball, shooting off spot-ups, movement, and dribble handoffs."
As Peterson now prepares for his rookie season in Utah, expectations will be even higher for him following his latest shoe deal.
