Update on Tiger Woods' Son Charlie Caddying for Friend Miles Russell at US Open
Charlie Woods, the son of golf legend Tiger Woods, won't be on the bag for friend Miles Russell at the 2026 U.S. Open this week.
Russell confirmed on June 12 that swing coach Ramon Bescansa will caddie for him at Shinnecock Hills Golf Club.
"Ramon's kind of been on my bag in all my big events, whether it was Rocket (Classic, his PGA Tour debut) or my first Korn Ferry (start)," he said per Golfweek's Tim Schmitt and Adam Schupak. "I think it's just a comfortability thing."
Russell earned a place at the U.S. Open through a Florida qualifying event, and Woods was his caddie for the 36-hole grind.
"It kept it so light," he said of Woods' presence. "It's the first time I've had a buddy on the bag. I really like it, not talking much golf, just having a good time."
With the stakes now higher, opting for a more experienced hand makes sense. Bescansa brings the added advantage of having worked with Russell Knox for the 2018 U.S. Open at Shinnecock.
Russell was paired with Padraig Harrington and Cameron Smith for the first two rounds. They'll tee off Thursday at 7:19 a.m. ET.
