Noah Lyles claimed a world record on Tuesday.
The United States' track star ran a time of 14.67 seconds in the 150-meter at the Golden Spike meet, setting a new world record in the event. He also beat 18-year-old Australian phenom Gout Gout in the process.

While Lyles recorded the fastest time in a 150-meter race, World Athletics doesn't recognize it as an official world record," The Athletic's Liam Tharme noted. Sprinting legend Usain Bolt ran 150 meters in 14.44 seconds while running a 19.19-second 200-meter at the 2009 World Championships.
Lyles, a four-time world champion in the 200, who also won the 100 at the Paris Olympics, broke the record previously held by Jamaica's Kishane Thompson. Thompson recorded a 14.92 in Miramar, Florida, in April.
"It was about time. The world record was quite slow," Lyles told reporters. "This feeling (to become the fastest in the world) — it is nothing new. I said I could have a better turn. It is very hard to get used to running in a staggered 150 start."
The 150-meter isn't a common race at most meets, so it could be a while before anyone touches Lyles' new record.
Gout finished third with a time of 14.96, behind Lyles and South Africa's Sinesipho Dambile, who ran a 14.78.
Gout appears on his way to being track's next star. Earlier this year, he set the under-20 world record in the 200-meter with a time of 19.67, a time that was faster than Usain Bolt's when he was 18.
